Good on yer, Bob. Actually, that return trip could be as many as 10 passes, if time, weather and traffic allows ! It will be a Sunday after all. Confirming details from my previous tome : I am now successfully booked into both the "National" and the "Baita Dei Pini". The hotel near Interlaken does have rooms available for anyone who would like to stay either side of the NTM3 weekend. The Hotel Bären is in the village of Ringgenberg, on the north shore of Lake Brienz, with views to the mountains of the Bernese Oberland. Your English contact is Marinka, at : hotel.baeren@bluewin.ch. Mention that you know me, and you are with the MG Club. Alternatively, you can use the website booking form at : e.baeren-ringgenberg.ch/html/reservation.html.

No Neil, no snow. I'm not taking my 4x4, so you're not taking yours.

I am now successfully booked into both the "National" and the "Baita Dei Pini". How did you book with the Baita? Having a bit of trouble getting a deposit to them.

Well ok, that's what I meant, just a bit wary about sending them card details in an open e-mail.

For E-Bay, Hotel Reservations, Internet Purchases etc.etc, then you have a 2nd Card with a Minimal Credit Limit. Geoff F.

Well ok, that's what I meant, just a bit wary about sending them card details in an open e-mail. So am I . I have in the past sent two e-mails, the first with part of my credit card details and a note that the rest will follow in a second message, and then the rest a little later. No-one seems to mind.

Ooooooh, that's clever. Just for info, I've been working through the night this past week (nothing exciting believe me) and have been keeping an eye on the webcam above. It's just stunning at around 5am!

Booking at Baita (and National in Davos) : Acheived thru' an on-line booking agent (booking.com), accessed from the Via Michelin Route Planning website (www.viamichelin.com). They don't debit credit cards, but do need a card number to confirm the reservation. Enter a town/country, select "Hotels", then select from the "nearby" hotel list, and finally "book". I received reply e-mails direct from both hotels to confirm the reservations. No mention of a "deposit" - assume costs charged in full on departure. Good luck.

Well ok, not a deposit but a card against which the reservation is held.

Have emailed the Hotel Baita for Saturday night....
Must admit I'm tempted to take the 4x4, not sure I fancy the fuel bill or the speeding fines though !! I mean how was I to know that you're not allowed to do 152 (km/h) on a French D road!!

It's not a real 4x4. Anyway, thought you were coming in a VX?

Your right its not a real 4x4, its not got much ground clearance in "Tarmac Spec".
To come in a VX would mean buying one and I'm not sure thats the right choice yet.....
