Can we please organize something soon? There are all these lovely weekends passing us by and nothing is being organized. I know there is Castle Coombe and Silverstone etc coming up but surely that is no excuse for nothing happening in this area of the register! Plus some people don't want to travel too far for a meet. We need meets to keep up interest in our part of the world or all the people came to the January one are just going to drift away, we have two local reps yet must be one of the quietest parts of the register!! I have said before i know a few good local pubs just right for summer meets and i feel that the opportunities are slipping by us to enjoy the glorious weather we are having.

Paula hun,
If you look on the other thread that James posted earlier this week, you will see that I am already in the process of organising a meet.
I have posted several times in this forum regarding dates suitable for other members to attend and sadly had very little response so far from the very people who are supposedly interested in a meet.
As for there being two reps in this area, Kris seems to be rather absent these days due to other business which leaves organising and emailing up to me. I am more than happy with this and this normally this isn't a problem but as you obviously know, I have just had two of the worst weeks of my life and have just had my scans and tests done re possible ovarian cancer so I am afraid that I have been rather distracted and have had other more pressing priorities currently in my life to be concerned with.
It is a busy time of year as we all know. We have Castle Combe tomorrow, Silverstone is the following weekend, Effing the Bridges is in July and Kempenrit in August, followed by the Coast to Coast run in September. These are main events for the F Register and we have to take these into account. Reps are asked to avoid organising conflicting meets when there are main events happening, which is understandable.
I have spent the past week almost continuously on this site (as can be seen from my post count!) and have posted previously in this section in an attempt to spark some interest but I am afraid that unless other members also add posts to this forum, it will remain quiet - I haven't relished talking to myself whilst here! I'm afraid that .org seems to hold some members' attention more than them trying to get the ball rolling in this section.
I do hope that this reply clarifies the situation for you and other members re forthcoming get-togethers.
I will be posting a definite date and venue as soon as I have checked out some possibilities. HTH.

And Paula hun, I have to take into account that what is local to you isn't neccesarily local to other members!
If you have suggestions, please email them to me...I have asked people before to email me suggestions if they had any, but I had absolutely no response..... so please let me know if you know of any venues you think would be good for a weekend or evening meet. ;D

Hi Andie, sorry to read about your recent difficulties. Just wondered, I live in Berkshire, so not really sure which area covers me as South East doesn't seem right, and you guys may be too far south. Having said that, a trip to the coast would be great in the summer evenings, so if I am in your area, please let me know when you guys are meeting up. Being new to the MGF family, it would be great to get some help, advice and useful contacts.
Thanks again

Ah bugger!! Now I feel pretty bloody guilty!! Andie is quite correct in what she says. At the moment (and, indeed, for the last month or so) she has been somewhat of a lone ranger! I had no intention of just disappearing but what with my company expanding, buying a house, sorting out the holiday that the OH has been nagging me for for the past 4 years, etc etc.. I just haven't had any extra time. I kind of hoped that the numerous big events would keep most people sweet for the time being, but that is clearly not the case. I think everyone can quite understand that Andie has had other things on her mind recently, so to also spend time on here and answer everybody's posts as well as tyring to organise for everyone, I would say is well and truly "above and beyond the call of duty"! As pointed out above, recently, it seems there has been some sort of event on pretty much every weekend, and we just can't try to organise something at the same time, as this could cause conflict. I completely understand the point made about some people not wanting to travel as far as others (that was, after all, the exact reason why the South Coast group was started in the first place!) but we also have to be respectful of the other, larger pre planned events. You heard it here first chaps & chapesses, I will try my hardest to get back in the swing of things but if I could just ask for a couple of weeks grace that would be much appreciated! ;D In the next three weeks, I've got the most hectic schedule of my life but after that, things should settle and I'll have a hell of a lot more time on my hands! Time best spent getting you rowdy bunch all together for a good chin wag me thinks!!

Andie this thread is not a personal dig to any of our reps! Im not really on about recently, im on about the period from the first meet in January up to now, not just the last couple of weeks!! When i said some people dont want to travel far to attend something i was talking about F/TFers in gerneral not myself, cos as you know from past experience i will travel any distance to attend an event, and i am certainly not expecting something to be organized right on my doorstep!! As you know i am aware of what you have been going through the last couple of weeks, so i must stress that i am on about the lack of anything happening since January to now... a 5 month period not the last couple of weeks!! And can i also state that this has nothing to with .Org. All i want to do is see the south coast section getting some summer action!!

Paula my love, you say this has nothing to do with .org and then say that this section is quiet - but if the members spend their time posting on other sites such as .org and not here then it will be quiet! By the way, this is a general comment and is NOT aimed at any one particular member! As I said, I have been on here constantly recently and have tried to encourage others to join in add to the site but it has seemed a rather fruitless task. A forum is not going to expand or grow if members don't make the effort to join in; their posts make a forum what it is. If members fail to post then there is nothing I can do to change that....although I could pop round with 'The Lads' and force you all to join in... I have asked people to email me suggestions for pubs if they had any - and I'm afraid to say that I've had no response. If members do have ideas they'd like considered then it is extremely easy to either PM me or email me at andiemgtf@yahoo.co.uk I only became a rep fairly recently - mid April - and was quite literally thrown in at the deep end!!! As a non-swimmer I was terrified! I am waiting to speak to people to gain some more info re organising road runs and meets as there are various legal aspects involved in some cases. All committee members have been extremely helpful re my questions and queries so I'd like to thank them all for their patience. Thank you Tony for your offers too - I may well be in touch with you...you may regret offering! I had arranged to speak to Adrian and others after the committee meeting at Kimber House recently but the meeting had to be cancelled. I pointed out that I had replied to James' query on his thread. No other responses were made there though. And hun, I never once said that I viewed your post as a dig at the SCRR reps! I fully understood why you posted hun, which was why I replied asap to let you know the situation as it stands. It was nice to see some other life over here!xxx I hope that you can all see and understand the points I have made here. Remember that a forum is a community - if the community members rarely visit, then the community will not grow. And Kris....thank you for the apologetic message....now, how much advance warning do you need to ensure that you will arrive at any arranged meet on time AND in the right place???!

I think that once a meet is planned then peeps will start to come out of the wood work!! I haven't had much time to post anywhere the last couple of weeks due to work, but what i have had time to post has mostly been here. Hun if you need my help at all in arranging anything you only have to ask, i did offer before when you where talking about joining Kris and that offer still stands. ;D We just need to inject some enthusiasm into the SC area Hun ;D ;D ;D ;D

I agree with you Paula...which is exactly the conversation I've had with Adrian in the past month. Hopefully some of us can have a good natter at Silverstone next week. I'm on the F Register stand from 1pm until 3pm.....so please come and say hi! For those who have never met me....I don't bite!

I may be at Silverstone this sunday, if my DIY work is complete...and can get over my sulks regarding my bumper....I'll float around and say HI to anyone who'll talk to me (tho I'm sure James wont have a clue who I am :-)) ). Looking forward to meeting Andie, who must almost be as infamous as Jay!
Up for a meet also, anything I can do to help organise...please yell...

As a non-Southener may I make a comment?
I have been organising monthly runs for our motorcycle group for 5 years so have some experience.
It will only get off the ground if you set a date and place and advertise it. You can spend six months trying to get peoples views and trying to please everybody.
I would be inclined to fix a regular date (say 3rd Sunday in month), check that it doesn't conflict with another nearby group and just go for it.
Some months it will conflict with a National event; either consider moving the date that month or carry on as normal for those that don't want to attend the National.
Also remember that organising event doesn't mean that one person has to do everything - farm out some months events to other people to organise. Either suggest a destination for a run and let A.N.Other plan the route and act as leader or pick a leader and let them do the lot.
If you try to do everything every month then you will soon get pi$$ed off and pack it in.
I should have typed ONE where I've typed YOU but it seems a bit pretentious.
