That's strange I was behind him trying to tell him his rear fog lamp was on.
In the darkness I didn't know if that was still you behind me, that's why I phoned you to make sure you were OK with the M25 junction.

So we were all really close but no one knew it! Every now and then I could see Tony's headlights behind me a couple of cars back and I think that Emma was right behind him?? But I couldn't see you or Dave for love nor money. I kept popping my nose out a bit to see if I could see your lights as they are quite distinctive, but couldn't.

That's right, Tony was behind me for a bit, then we swopped over and I stayed in front. I kept catching glimpses of you in front Kris.

I'll try to pick up a pair of radio's before August.
Adrian and Dave seemed to vanish somewhere ahead of us in the traffic then Kris seemed to get away from us although they may not have been that far ahead I just couldn't see them. Maybe because the F's are so low.

Just spoken to our radio boff and off the top of his head a decent radio would be around £120 but you can get Motorola pairs for around £70.00 with a dozen pre-set channels. He will do some poking around and see whats out there, If there is some interest I should be able to get them at cost. I'll see how cheap we can get them.

Update, Had a look in Maplins and pairs run from £29.99 to £49.00 or £59.00 which have earpieces. The hard bit is all having the same freqency.

Colin, we have the Maplin style ones and it seems after testing, even if you buy them abroad, they all operate on the same frequencies.
You can buy a pack of four for £39.99p last time I was in there, they went to Holland.

Adrian, Sounds like a plan! Perhaps if a couple of you key players who make most of the meets hang on to the sets (I guess you only get one charger?) we could muck in and fund 8 or so? or individuals could by doubles and share a charger. You are right, I just checked any radio from Maplins are on conpatible freq. What do people think?

The cheapies, which work up to 2 km's of clear air, have normal AA batteries, so don't come with a charger.
I use re-chargeable batteries and the same batteries and charger I use for my camera. Simple really.

We have four in the F register and two of my own which we sometimes use on runs and events. We'll use those this year - have a range of about 2km as Adrian says and seem suitable and cheap ! Normally use them at Silverstone and on the occasional run - mobile phones tend to be better in emergencies though !
