Popped into Silverstone yesterday (for the F1 testing) and there was a lot of building work going on ready for the British GP, including some very large temporary buildings which on MG Silverstone weekend normally have tents on them....

A lot of great pictures. Thanks James. Hard works of the register. Indeed. I've seen SF doing that job usually with a smile. Hope you had a good time though. ;D [Envious] Dieter

Good photos there! I'm so jealous that Andy taught you to juggle, James....thats on my list of things to do before I die...would so love to be able to juggle like that....!!! Andy, as you ARE my most favourite-ist person in the whole wide world, can you teach me too???! LOL! Glad everyone enjoyed the weekend. Sad I wasn't able to come along as I'd planned to. Maybe see some of you next year!

I've been there on Saturday and enjoyed your hospitality.
But
in total it was a bit boring as the MG Car Club tries to keep their format the same, year after year.... even when things are changing. Thank God, their was the TF LE500 (new one) on display, what else would the event has to attract visitors.
Are others thinking/feeling the same or is it just a phenomenon (sp?) that happens after the fourth visit ?!?

Yes Erik, you are correct, it is the feeling of many others also.
This is why I feel the European events (and MGFest) are and will be more vibrant and exciting.
In fact I heard an MGA driver saying to Gert Jorgensen that the event is static, why is nothing ever done. We had the Saturday evening band and BBQ so at least that was a change for the better but static is a good description.
I must say that the racing grids were fuller than normal but the traders were low on interest, I could not even find a set of dust caps on any of them (I had another set stolen from my car at my local railway station while I was at work on Thursday evening).
Cars were low on number (I counted 161 MGF/TF in the Register parking area compared to 123 MGB's on Saturday) but the weather may have had something to do with that.

Don't forget guys, the MGCC management has been pretty static and stuck in their ways for years. Richard Jones the new general manager only took on the post a month or so back and could only really go with the flow on this years event. It would be as you say good in future to introduce new ideas and allow the event to evolve. I'd rather that, than see lots of different events split the MG community up. I know Richard is very keen to move forward with the community and perhaps it's discussions with him over next years event that should be a priority rather than dilute the membership and the supporting retailers over many events in future years. Stu ;D

Your right Stu, we all spent some time talking to Richard who does seem to be looking ahead with the club and it's events, I certainly hope so.
The future certainly seems to be rosier indeed.
