Just to clarify, the OEM glass screen as fitted to MY2005 TF's does not need to be un-zipped to lower the hood, neither does the screen in the BAS, Satur etc aftermarket glass screened hoods. The problem comes with after-market glass screen panels, designed to be fitted to plastic screened hoods, as the glass is often the wrong size, shape or in the wrong position to allow the hood the be lowered with the screen panel zipped in. With the BAS after market one you can't unzip it, it's a one piece hood.

I was up at Mike Satur's last week and he mentioned he was working on a new design glass rear screen that will lie flat without being unzipped.... will be interesting to see if it works out

I agree with Steve. As I said earlier, I have an early 2004 with a plastic screen & bought a glass replacement from Mike Satur - in requires to be unzipped for the folding down of the hood. I like the glass one because I feel it looks better, will not 'craze' & has the demister etc etc. Fortunately, my car is a LE (1 of 30 for the Aussie market only) & came with a hard top - so, I have all the wiring already fitted for the demister. BUT the 'down side' - just don't get caught in a shower!!

BAS do two types of glass screen hoods, the Sportster, which as you say is a one piece hood and the Classic hood, which is the same style as the MY2005 OE hood. With the Classic style the screen can zip out if you want it to but the hood will go down without unzipping it. We have one fitted to our 2004 TF, was a great buy. If you are thinking of replacing the whole hood for what ever reason then give BAS International a try, they do the hood and frame on an exchange basis and will also fit it for you. We had ours done at Silverstone Int 2007.

Just to confirm that the glasS rear section CAN DEFINATELY be left in place on the older Mk2 Hood and be FOLDED....
On MY05 hoods the rear cross bar simply 'floats' on the hood and isnt fixed... if you look at my 'How To' link further up this thread you will see how its done..... its EASY if a little involved... People said it couldn't be done so i did it! Hahahah I love a challenge!
