I don't know how many of you have seen the news article ( www.mgcars.org.uk/carclub/mgfregister/news/News/index.htm) - but it transpires that the IPR for the MG TF has been transferred to SAIC. Nick Birse discovered this on trawling through the Patent office website - and has since hit the national news. I'm absolutely flabbergasted by this development- who will want to buy MG now as a going concern?

How on earth do you "accidentally" sell the rights to the MGTF ? Perhaps the chinese really did ply MGR with too much Saki as suggested by Quentin Wilson !! Unbelievable !!

There hasn't been any more recent official proclaimations regarding the TF IPR issue - so what is happening here remains as opaque as ever - however, the "word on the street" that is leaking out from the various bidding camps for MG is that the IPR issue may not be as serious as it first sounds, and should not seriously damage attempts to revive MG.
The PwC "line in the sand" bidding deadline for the whole of MG Rover passed last Wednesday (almost a week ago). I have it on good authority that at least one bid was submitted for the whole of MG Rover, potentially as a going concern.
I would anticipate that we'll hear something soon regarding PwC's assesment regarding these bids - with the naming of a preferred bidder or, failing that, commencement of the liquidation of MG Rover group. The latter would then open up the bidding for MG on its own.
More news as and when I hear about it - but if there is anyone here who knows more and can tell us about it, please do! ;D
