Andy - managed to take apart that TF fuel filler cap in the end. The unit I bought off eBay for a quid was made in 2003, and the centre part that simply comes apart by tapping on the table for the earlier version is manufactured differently - and in fact comes apart in 3 sections in a slightly different fashion... Will post more if anyone's interested Mark - you mentioned you had a contact for chroming the filler surround - if I get mine to you, could you sort this for me? Cheers mate ;D

Andy, I took some pictures - can send these to you if you're interested - otherwise probably appearing on a website near you soon! LOL ;D
Thanks Mark - will have to try and figure out how best to get the 'spare ring' to you - but there's no rush, as I now have a nearly new OEM spec fuel cap thanks to that fleabay purchase! ;D

PS Mark, will I need to remove the allen bolts and the black plastic backing ring from the trim before getting it to you?
Thanks again ;D

You will have to Rob. They are not proper bolts though, they just push in.

What's the best method of popping them out Rich? Andy mentioned using an Allen key, and almost flicking them out?

Okay, I'll give that a go. Do you chrome these as well?
One more question: how does the plastic backing come off? It looks as though it is held in three places - possibly associated with those Allen bolts?
I reckon there's a 'How-to' web page in this little topic! LOL ;D
