Ah I have it! Yesterday, a lorry travelling in the opposite direction flicked up a stone which I assumed hit my windscreen. However I washed the car today ony to find the mother of all stone chips in the middle of the bonnet. I looks like 2 or more 5mm scratches together, and some have gone right through the primer. Do I:
a) Leave it and hope it goes away by itself (Hmm, not really an option) b) Go to Halfrauds and buy a Rover BRG touch up kit (looks quite bad, as it's rough to the touch) c) Call Chips-Away (Anyone know an franchise's that are any good in our area?)

I think for the first time in the nine years of owning the car I didn't get anything for it, however that doesn't mean I didn't have a completely MG prezzie free Christmas. No wiat a sec, i did get something for it, well sort of...

Ok Kieron I see you're dying to tell us so go on ...... Emma - depending on chip size you might get away with the Halfords repair paint option but it takes patience to get that right and a lot of T cut ! Probably still show if its in the middle of the bonnet. Worth trying before going the Chips away route though. I had a big chip on my front wing that I messed about with so much that I feathered all the paint around it and made a right mess - had to summon chips away in the end and the chip hasn't been since BUT it did cost me £120 ! Mind You I've done lots of smaller chips with no problems using the Halfords kit. Corringham - loads of MGF 10 photos on the official MGF 10 site here www.mgcars.org.uk/runnymede-mgoc/mgpitfiles/sef/milestones/10th%20front.htm and there'll be a final MGF 10 special on the first edition of FasTforward.

Cheers Tim, I'll show the chip on Sunday, but having looked at it again, I'm not confident in doing it myself. It just looks to bad for an amataur to attempt a fix. I'll arrange for Chips Away to give me a quote.

Well I've had a bloke from Chips Away have a look at it last week. He's quoted me £140 to do all the chips (there are quite a few) and he's also doing the off-side door handle as it's flaking away a bit. He reckons it's been re-sparyed before and someone's messed it up which is why it's flaking off (difficult to explain, but you can have a look at it tonight). Predictably the main chip has started going rusty already Anyway he's coming back next Thursday to do the job.
