OUCH!!!!!!! Just seen the engine out of my F and it is just a little tattered to put it mildly. Engine went with a huge steam cloud out of the exhaust pipes the other weekend. Sorry to all those guys that were behind me at the time. Car carried home on low loader. Only silver lining is I was close to home and not at Castle Combe like the previous Saturday or doing the original Italian job in Italy as was my original intention. Garage informed me today it was not good news, piston 4 & liner is no more as is the head. Garage guys never seen any thing like it before even when engines have given up in the past - look out for the pictures on the web. They were all busy taking them. They can’t explain why there is so much damage when the engine was running fine before it gave way. Just looks too much damage for the short time engine ran after it failed. picasaweb.google.co.uk/kwil35/CarEngine On the look out for a new engine now. Will have to cost up a new one vs a refurbished one. Have to do something as otherwise car just completely worthless but looks as if it will nearly cost as much as the car is worth to get it on the road again. At least I am still smiling - even if it is through gritted teeth

Wow Keith, bad news, however, as you say, you were close to home.

Sorry to hear your bad news. I was at Techspeed before our Italy Trip. They had a 'S' reg with almost identical damage due to a Valve Head Release. Do you know your prime cause yet ??. Who has your car ??. Your best bet may be to pick up a lower mileage write off car engine and then haggle a few garages for the best price to fit it unless you fancy a DIY job. Is Keith still looking for a 'Project Car' ?? Geoff F.

Just a quick update before we move forums. It has been slow sourcing an engine (too much choice out there and hard to do whilst working) but I have ordered one today as a 're-manufactured one'. Not a fully reconditioned engine but a fully stripped and rebuilt one, with new parts if any out of spec. Engine been worked on now and hopefully will be delivered to my garage in a few days time. Hopefully car will be back on the road some time next week? I do hope all goes well now as car has already been off the road for what seems like an age and I want to go driving again.
