Following an interesting post on the .org yesterday, I visited Intapart in Daventry today.....discovered 4 TF's used as crash test dummies......have linked to my posting on the .org where there is a slideshow and pics...plus a dead BRG F......it might be on the register forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=208029

Those TFs have been there for a few years now. Close inspection shows there's nothing worth having on them as they were built with an incredibly basic spec, purely for crash testing. I've visited Intapart a couple of times when I've been desperate... Won't ever go there again. They sold me a wiper motor mechanism for £60 (complete off a TF) and when I got it home, it was worse than the one fitted to my car. They wouldn't let me have a refund as it was 'sold as seen'. Also, when I was looking for a hood, they had a TF spark in with a grey one. Somebody had put packing tape all over the back window and once they guy had removed it, you could see the damage it had done. Then he tried to sell it to me for £350! In the end, got the parts from DK Salvage in Peterborough. Wiper motor was £25 and hood was £200 including frame (both off 2004 TF). Also bought the rest of my black interior trim (screen surround etc). Their eBay shop can be found here. Rich.

They wouldn't let me have a refund as it was 'sold as seen'. If they are in business then there is no such thing as 'sold as seen'. There is an implied term of satisfactory quality and fitness for purpose. The only exception to this are shortcomings you could reasonably have discovered on inspection and problems brought to your attention before buying. So, as a general point, unless buying at auction, if you are buying from a business you have statutory rights that cannot be overruled by agreement or any claim by the seller.

There is an implied term of satisfactory quality and fitness for purpose. The only exception to this are shortcomings you could reasonably have discovered on inspection and problems brought to your attention before buying. The problem with a scrapyard is that unless they have physically tested an item, they are not in a position to guarantee a part. The cars come in in various states and quite often are just shelved until somebody wants something off them. Therefore, they couldn't tell me if the wiper motor worked or not. I learnt my lesson the hard way and after seeing prices elsewhere, I will be far more cautious. Also, this was a couple of years ago, so not worth worrying about now. Rich.
