Well after consulting my friendly local tyre place (not Kwik Fit I hasten to add!) I have decided to go for the Toyo T1-R Proxies. Got a bit confused with comments in this thread until I read Rob Bell's Website's helpful article on Tyres - my main confusion was that everyone was talking about R16's when I have R15's, but with that cleared up and the tyre fitters advice some Toyo T1-R's will be going on next week sometime.
Only doing the rears at this stage, I'll wait and see what the handling is like before I do the fronts as they still have a few thousand miles on them! For those that are interested I am going to Tadworth Tyres (very knowledgable and helpful - happy to recomend to anyone in the area) and the tyres are costing about £75 fitted.
Roll on next week - in the meantime I'll be driving gingerly as they are right on the limit! ;D

Graham have you had those new tyres put on yet ? I am about to have mine rears replaced as well and am interested to hear how you get on. If I'd known yours were so shot I'd have kept my distance on the Red eye run last Saturday!!!

Graham, I have them fitted to my F on 15" rims and swear by them. Mine were used on track days, motorkhana's, auto-cross plus every day driving. The rears have just been replaced at 31000km and still legal, the fronts only half worn. Using Rob's site I had the 4 wheel alignment set up at the same time and the tyres wore evenly across the tread. The replacements will last longer as I now have special track day tyres as well.

Got 'em put on yesterday and noticed the difference straight away! Despite not changing the fronts the handling seemed better, it felt much better in the bends and generally stuck to the road.
I've already started saving for the front ones - hopefully I'll have enough by Christmas!

Hi Graham, And the best bit is that you will be noticing they 'run in' and get even better during the next 500 miles!
