Personally £75.00p per double room + £15.00p for the meal providing the quality was to 4* standard of course.

So would I...but not if the price for the room was per person, Colin!!! £75 for the room, £15 per head for the meal seems the norm around these parts, but then again I am referring to Banjo Country.....

No - Sax Country (have I spelt that right?) Price seems accepable per room. What, Kent? If it's £75 for a double 4* room then yes, seems fair. If it's per person, sod that

Surely the whole idea with the F'in lark is to try to keep costs down??? 4* hotel seems a bit over the top - tis only a bed for the night!!!!! £75 - count me out!! Now £38 for a single with double bed like C2C is more my cup of tea. Don't mind paying big euros when in Belgium - spesh right in the middle of Manrock, but £75 for a place to wack my head for the night is flipping steep!!!! Wot kind of money are people earning to afford digs like these???

Currently Jay, because of the fact that I have lost work (was self-employed) and my last client owes me for two months work but seems to have forgotten despite calls, visits and letters, I'm not earning any money and we're living on an overdraft and homemade soup...
This is next year and I can't imagine that Cornwall is cheap - £75 for two for a night is what I would expect. Part of the joy of these runs etc is that David and I get to go away with a load of lovely people and enjoy a little luxury. I don't spend money on booze or drugs, I dont smoke and I don't spend money on car bling or exhausts...and I save up for a break away as I see it as a holiday.

Okee Dokee - i'll just pop me head back on!!! LOL. £75 for a double is fine, but single peeps like me have to pay a subsidy and therefore a 4* room for me, on my own, would probably cost almost the same as a double. I try to do as many meets locally and nationally as possible but at these kinda rates it narrows it down abit - i'm not on big bucks either and it is only cornwall!!! I'm not into camping these days, hotels it is for me, but I'd prefer to spend my hard-earned on food, fuel, drinky-poos etc ........not a bed. I think more effort into encouraging as many F'ers as possible to come and have some fun, not aim it at only those who can afford 4* luxury.

Well I'm sorry - I say bring on the 4 star luxury! Actually I prefer 5 star I kind of see what you're getting at Jay, especially if you are on your own, gets a bit pricey. Thing is, there are always lots of meets and jollies going on all over the place, which hopefully caters for everybody's differing tastes and also budgets. Personally - I would have loved to have gone to Kempenrit - but at the time there was no way I could have afforded it - therefore I didn't go. There are quite a few jaunts abroad that I would have like to have gone too....and some in the future also - but again, I don't have the dosh for it. This weekender is not till next year, so there is time to save up a little. If you begrudge paying extra dosh for staying in luxury - that's cool, why not look at staying at a cheaper hotel nearby? There's loads in Newquay & being such a small town, everywhere is close by. I personally really enjoy staying in luxury hotels - yes I am a snob ....for me it is a treat and a pamper, it's not something I do every weekend, so I don't begrudge spending some of my hard earned dosh on myself and my own selfish pleasures ;D Fi ;D

All i'm saying is i'm up for this cornish extravaganza but i aint paying 2 days wages for a nights kipp!!! Bring on the 2* and i'll be the first one down there - I love cornwall, spesh down St.Ives end. Are there any dates for this before the Hotel accomodation gets sorted?? When we have some dates we can all book our own hotels like C2C. That way I'm everyones happy

Purely for comparison, 2007 Highlander
So, Highlander 2007 will be from 4th - 7th May, 2007 and it will be held again at Nethybridge Hotel. The cost of dinner, bed and breakfast will be £48 per person per night (if you stay the three nights).
This is the same price as we were charged in 2005 & 2006 and I think it is just about right.
About 3 years ago we paid £75 per person db&b pn at Rannoch Moor but that was a Triumph motorcycle weekend so not as affluent as MG'ers.
