Some moron stove in the rear of my tf in Somers Road, Wisbech yesterday (Saturday 24/02.07). I now have a large and deep dent behind drivers door. Judging by the height of the damage it must have been a 4x4 or large van. Is damage in this area terminal or can the panel be replaced? Any advice that can turn to would be appreciated, as I really don't want the insurance company to write it off - she's much too good for that! Cheers David

Without looking at it and we are no experts David, take it to a couple of garages and get them to tell you.
Contact your Insurance company and tell them, you are not committed to having them arrange repairs, then see where they send you to be assessed and take the options from there.
The MGF Centre at Wolverhampton or Brown & Gammons in Baldock will tell you if it is repairable I'm sure.

That could be tricky if it needs a new rear panel, your best bet is to try and deal with an Xpart Service Centre, as they will be in a better position of locating any parts needed.

If your insurer wants to write the car off, then they definately need to speak to X-part. They run a scheme where they negotiate with insurers if the car is classed as being beyond economical repair - in order to get the car back on the road. I would guess your local x-part service centre will be able to give some details.

David, sorry to hear about your misfortune. W H Brand and Son in Whaplode Drove are an accredited X-Part Service Centre. They just did the repair to the offside front wing, bumper and wheel for me after I had a stupid [censored] eejit in an ambulance overtake me as I was turning right off the main road in the village. I'm more than happy with their standard of work. I suggest you give them a call. www.whbrand.com/index.html

Thanks all. Have been to Brands (really nice guys). Reckon straightforward job, just waiting for insurance company to agree to spend £1500 on the repairs. Seeing their assessor on Friday, so fingers crossed.
While the car's in there I think I'll ask them to fit machine guns in the front fog light pods! Will the suspension need upgrading to keep a decent line of fire?
Once again Thanks for all your comments David

Hi David, Just come back from a few days in sunny London. Sorry to hear about this. Must be really bad feeling after having the car for such a short time. I am sure that it will be as good as new when it is finished - I have my fingers crossed for you. For future reference, I will put a couple more links on here for people - click for links: MGOC Workshop - Xpart - Location: Swavesey nr Cambridge Keith Young bodyworks independent - Location: about 40 feet from my new house ;D (Sutton nr Ely) If anyone can recommend any others let me know and I will add them to the website. Think that I already have Brands listed. Cheers Jon

Insurance company assessor agreed WH Brand can do the work, so just waiting for a date from them now. While she's in there I'm hoping to get a trophy spoiler fitted and a set of grey anodised roll hoops fitted. Might as well get the 15000 mile service done too! Insurance brokers made big cock up on printing the schedule with my insurance certificate. They printed £50 excess instead of £250. And I won the battle, so Adrian Flux is paying most of the excess for me ---RESULT!!!! Thanks for your comments and advice.
