Well, there I am sitting quietly at work in London this morning, when I get a phone call from the missus, who was on her way up north to visit relatives for a few days. Operative word "was", as she is now sitting beside the A1 waiting for AA Recovery, with the good old K series lump having erupted in a cloud of steam and hot oil. No previous warning signs. Both temperature gauges climbed skywards simultaneously as the system let go, and she pulled over straight away, so we shall see what the damage is once the bloody thing dear car has been recovered to Stan Smith's in Sutton. It's a 1999 1.8i, which has done 57k, with the head gasket replaced once before at 25k, so it was probably due to expire again anyway.... Looking on the bright side, at least it means that the water pump and cam belt can be done at the same time, as they would have been due at 60k anyway! Deep joy. At least Stan knows the F inside and out and doesn't charge rip off prices! MGA Mark
