Had the car just over 4 months now. Its a tf 135 02 plate when i bought it it had 18 k on clock fsh. After about a month of owning it it overheated and steamed up on me up in the Derbyshire peaks (monsall head). I stopped the car let it cool down and drove her home. Filled her with coolant replaced cap fingers crossed. But ever since i bought it there as been a emulsion blob floating type substance in expansion tank although it hadn't contaminated the oil cap and dip stick. I took it in cause it was ready for its cam belt service previous owner hadn't bothered because of extremely low mileage lack of mg knowledge garage. Its in Mike Saturs now having hg done plus he is reworking the ports to make it run smoother get rid of the lumpiness you get with these cars. Should be good when i get her back though.

Sadly HGF on early TF's is almost inevitable sub 30K miles, so if it helps you are by no means the only one... At least on the plus side (if there is one?) your car could not be in better hands with Mike..

Welcome to the sub-20K HGF club The fact you have an 2002 car means that a sub 30K HGF is pretty inevitable... Mike Satur aint cheap, cut what he doesnt know, aint worth knowing!

not sure what gasket he is putting on to be honest i did mention the lr one to him and asked if it lowered performance because of it being a thicker gasket. he said they tend to take metal off the head with the skim so no. so god knows wot gasket he is using.

Many off you will know i had my hg repair and full service at Mike Saturs fetched it back last Friday got it home and there was a oily residue in header tank. Took it back and just got it back today. The radiator was the cause of the oilly residue pumping through and he has spent a lot of time soaking the rad in solvent and cleaning the system out. He reckons some body put some kind of seal in there to hide the hgf and when he flushed the system it moved the condensed oil.Its been a expensive time and im hoping for a good few ££ less miles now.
