I've owned my F for a few months now but am still struggling with the roof. The user manual seems to suggest all you do is unclip it and fold it back.
However, mine gets stuck somewhere between a 1/2 and 2/3s of the way back. It just locks solid. If I close it and open it a few times, jiggle it about a bit it eventually goes down. Am I missing something, is there some hidden catch you have to press or is my roof just slightly warped / damaged? Any help much aprreciated.

No hidden catches, just that if the first bar back from the header rail doesn't move with the rest of the hood, it will create a geometric lock and become immoveable. Easiest way around the problem is to unclip the header rail from the screen, and once you have moved that back a few inches with one hand, use the other hand to move the first bar back from the rail by a few inches. The hood should then be free to fold down all the way, and you can use the spare hand to make sure that the window is folded in smoothly. MGA Mark

You can buy (or even make) two elasticated straps that stop this from happening.

Thank you very much for the replies. Providing it doesn't start raining I shall try that out for my journey home.

The ones that MG produced (for a hood recall) that people use to cure this problem are now selling at over £30. However, I managed to get my hands on a few alternative straps for some of the Scottish guys. They work very well and do exactly the same as the MG ones but at a fraction of the cost. So, if anyone wants a pair just e-mail me - they sell at £9.99 inc postage. I can even bring them with me to MGFest next weekend.

Just to let you know the roof now goes down fine. Easy when you know how huh? Thanks for the help.
Not sure I'll bother with the rubber straps, it seems pretty easy....

Oh so sad ,the life of a retiree eyesight failing thro' the glimmer of the receding candle light, fingers worn down to the bone in his fanatical search for the perfect product. The silence only broken by the clatter of the Toyota sewing machine ra-ta-ta-ting over the smoggy, freezing night air seeping though the mirriad of cracks in the old Scottish dwelling house he calls home and the dogs whining with worry over their loyal masters health .
