Hi there, unfortunately due to a house move and no longer owning a garage Im having to sell my extensively upgraded 1998 1.8i VVC in Solar red. She's done 56,685 miles and is truly immaculate. I bought the car from new, sold it in 2000 and bought it back in 2005. I've spent an absolute fortune on it but now can't really keep it as i've no garage and dont want to see it ruined by the elements. In short it has full leather, wood pack and wooden steering wheel, new shadow chrome alloys, chrome roll hoops, uprated calipers, Taipan air filter, 52mm Throttle body, Scorpion stainless steel sports exhaust, electric mirrors, chrome hood latches, rear spoiler, chrome door handles, chrome grilles, leather T bar (with speakers) and cubby holder, Pioneer stereo, loads of other goodies. I have a file full of paperwork on it including all MOT's and tax discs, receipts etc. This is a golden opportunity for a fellow enthusiast to benefit from all the hard work (and money) invested in this car. It is truly immaculate. A full listing appears on Ebay. I'm looking for around £4700 which I know is over book but it isn't a normal MG. "] "] "]

I would think you are at least £1200 overpriced, and if selling via e-bay, nearer £1700 above ..

Unfortunately i think Mark is right, but good luck and really feel for you, i have 99 F spent and arm and a leg on it and would just not pay me to sell it now or anytime as worth nowt to anyone but myself so will keep till it rusts away and ends up as rusty bits in bins at Silverstone and Stoneleigh shows in years to come ;)it's awful how our cars have dropped in value but thats bleeding life eh? Thanks for your comments guys. If I can't sell it for reasonable money then I'll have to keep it (with a smile on my face!) and buy a decent form of cover for the winter. I dont really want to sell it but during the colder months I was getting concerned by condensation ruining the car. Any ideas as to how to prevent this? Cheers Andy

Here in Essex £4700 for a really good condition tastefully mod'ed F in Solar Red would be about the right price. As an MG technician i see alot of new owners that have purchased F's in the last few months and prices tend to be higher than last year. One customer just purchased a 96 Amaranth with 60K and a hardtop for £4200 and another just sold a 96 BRG vvc with no mods for £3700! If you find someone looking for an F with the exact mods you've done then you won't have a problem selling it.

It must be worth £9K at the above prices.......... £3K more than I paid for it 18 months ago ;D ;D ;D

Good luck with the sale, I hope both you and the purchaser get what you are looking for. I know I paid over the odds for mine but I am still over the moon with my 1995 F ( referred to in "new member"in the general page). I can understand David also as I am planning to spend -probably too much next year to get it into pristine condition and would never recover it if I were to sell on. Good job I have no intention of selling- I will keep it till I rust away lol. Des

If you don't need the cash as part of the house move, then park it outside, keep using it and enjoy driving it. The worst that the weather can throw at it is rain, frost, hail and snow, with road salt in the winter. Cars don't get ruined by the elements, they just need more looking after ;D
