At Speedfair 2007 at Knockhill we were asked if we would like to go to a "fun evening" at Forestburn Hillclimb which is being run by the Monkland Sporting Car Club ( www.mscc.org.uk/ ) on Thursday 16th August. You don't have to join the MSCC but if you want to have a go at taking your car up the hill it will cost you £10. Gerry and I intend to go so if anyone else fancies it you are more than welcome to join us. Directions to Forestburn - From the M8 Motorway Leave the M8 at Junction 5, turning onto the B7057 At the T junction, turn right onto the B7066, Hirst Road Follow the road up the hill and turn first right onto Forrest Road (Forrest Road is narrow with blind corners, take care!) Follow Forrest Road over the motorway, past Dewshill Farm and Bentfoot Farm Forrestburn is on your right shortly after Bentfoot Farm Enter by the red and white gate (the second entrance, up the hill). From the A89, Airdrie Road At Forrestfield, turn into Forrest Road (right if approaching from Airdrie, left approaching from Bathgate) (Forrest Road is narrow with blind corners, take care!) Follow Forrest Road past the quarry and Forrest Farm Forrestburn is on your left about 1 mile after Forrest Farm Enter by the red and white gate.

It seems that we were given the wrong information at Knockhill. I thought that we should check with the MSCC before turning up and it would appear that only MSCC members will be allowed to go up the hill and that you can't join the club on the night. However, I was told that we would be more than welcome as spectators.
Bearing in mind that this is the last "fun night" of the year, I would suggest that we arrange to go sometime in 2008 and those that want to participate can put in application form to join the Monklands Sporting Car Club in plenty of time.
