If tanks and big bangs appeal to you, you might like to know that there is a public viewing stand not too far from Durdle Door from where the public can watch live firing by tanks, including Chieftains. I used to take a shooting club from Herts there once a year - combined with a visit to the tank museum at Bovington and a pub lunch it made a good day out.

I'll join you afterwards, or participate if the exercise is for right arm only!

Having read through the first post again I noticed the part about the £5 per person deposit required. If I'd seen that before I'd have given it to you last Thursday, Andie. If I get anymore people from the WoE region putting them names forward to me for the meal I'll post a cheque off to you for the required amounts.

I was a guest of major Charlie Comyn, Adjutant of the Queens Royal Hussars based at Bovington Camp a number of years ago, while there they let me take out a front line Rolls Royce Eagle engined 900bhp Challenger 2 tank over the course. Probably the greatest driving experience ever, and I have had a few, if you get the chance, even in an older tank, TAKE IT, you will never have so much fun. By the way 1.5 mpg with it's side armour plating fitted ouch !
