Dear community, a legend left us !We were deeply saddened to hear the news about the sudden death of Ton Maathuis. Ton died on a tragic traffic accident in Italy on September 27. Unfortunately Ton was crushed by an overturning tank truck in its MG. His wife was in the car, too. But she had awfully luck in this misfortune and has broken only the ankle. Our thoughts are with Ton's family during this difficult time. We are all in a state of shock. Since 1974 Ton was president of the MG Car Club Luxembourg. blog.roadstergate.lu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=111&Itemid=9Claude

shocking sad news.
We knew him from several MG events in Europe since 2001.
A good chap has left us. Always so helpful. What a loss and what a awful time for the family.

And deepest sympathy from a Treffener who met him some years back whilst travelling through Luxembourg when he came up to our lunch stop to greet us.

Terrible news - we are very sad to hear this.
Ton had a red Trophy 160 which was mentioned in FTF6 at a technical demonstration in Luxembourg. I'm not sure if this was the car involved ?
Our sympathies

Farewell Ton Maathuis ---------------------------- Farewell for our beloved husband and father, Ton Maathuis. A service will be held on Saturday, 6th October at 3 pm in the chapel of the Merl cemetery. (rue des Aubépines, Merl district of Luxembourg-City) It won’t be a religious affair but everybody will have the opportunity to pay their last respect and say a few words should they wish to do so. The funeral will be held afterwards for close members of the family. Fredry (and her and sons, Guy, Tim and Ken) ----------------------------------------------------------
