Don't worry John - comments made with tongue firmly fixed in cheek. Wouldn't life be boring if everybody thought the same!

Role reversal ? instead of children asking to borrow parents car I suppose I will have to ask if I can borrow my sons car for the week, take care of it, do not speed, make sure you fill it up again etc. etc not sure if I could cope with all the advice !!

The only down side with the Rifugio Garibaldi is I've no idea what the food's like or if it's open at suitable times.

Many mountain refuges don't have bedrooms as such, just rows of mattresses placed edge to edge. You may not know the person sleeping next to you - it may be a grumpy, unwashed, miserable old man, or a fragrant young lady. It's a lot of fun, believe me.

it may be a grumpy, unwashed, miserable old man, I didn't think John had committed to going yet?

On a (marginally) more serious note, I wasn't suggesting staying there John, maybe just meeting there. The Google translation of the homepage begins: "In the days of beautiful time....." which sounds great. How better to open the story of the 2007 NtM when telling your grandkids?!

I thought some time ago that a mountain refuge would be an interesting meeting point for a natter. It's just the mandatory "lights out" that some huts observe that might not go down too well!

I'm glad I really took it the way you intended Bob. The menu looks OK to me; my Italian doesn't go as far as checking out opening hours or dates.

Ah. slight snag. Take a look at some of the Gallery images. Me thinks you'd only get the last few Kms on foot, unless there's a convenient mountain pass justover that first ridgeline.

I think about sums up the idea (at last).
You can go on your own or with a group, you can follow your own route and pace or you can go as a group, everybody has different wishes, skills, time and money.
When it is confirmed I will put the arrival point, it is close to Turin, this will be the meeting point for the Natter, if we ask Tim nicely I'm sure he can give us the usual tasks to do on the way there. The NtM will be Saturday night, again no evasiveness but as this is going to be from the top drawer if it works, you will know as soon as it is confirmed, we will be joined with cars from other countries too probably.
I will put my times and itinerary in case people want to travel together as a suggestion, it is not compulsory, it will probably be Speed Ferries Tuesday 18th, this will give me time to take in a few Alps on the way.
From Sunday we head off for a drive around the Dolomites area and the Stelvio, again how you make your way home, and when, is up to you.
We are offering more runs (and adventures) each year, we need be aware that there are a lot of events on offer, therefore to keep the Natter that Matters alive we are combining two in a way. Last years NtM had a good turnout, I want to keep that spirit alive.
