Dr. Periklis Gogas, from Thessaloniki in Greece, has kindly accepted the offer of being the MGF Register representative for Greece. You will know him as Perry of course.
He has recently started up the MG car club of Greece and held their first meeting on the 3rd of September.
He has already provided a link to their very nice looking site, to which effect we are welcome to view and take part in the forum, lucky they do have an English translation.

Funny you should say that Bruno, Perry has told me that he has five cars, at the moment, interested in meeting us on the Italian Job next September.
Yigit, how about you too ?
East meets West with F/TF's.
That's a dozen already.

Adrian is learning from your experiences Ted rather than nicking ideas. I'm sure that some of your previous trips were loosly based on ideas from Ken Craven?
wait's for people to ask 'who the hell is Ken Craven'

Hi Ted, no I wasn't aware of your first jaunt in '97, although not surprised, the title idea came from the film.
I am planning on taking in a few of the film locations where possible and a visit to Maranello on the way via the Stelvio Pass, which was the main reason behind the trip.

Adrian We too took the cue for our title from the film - the Mini and the *F* were actually the same makers then !! We went out through Switzerland and over the Grand Saint Bernhard down to Tuscany and then back into Switzerland, after a stop in the Italian Lakes, going over the Splügen calling at Lichtenstein and then onto the Black Forest. We were much 'harder' in those days as we averaged around 500 miles per day on the trip out and homeward - now I am more comfortable with 250 to 300! But as it say by my avatar I am still learning the ropes ;D!!!

Ted, I think you knotted the ropes in the first place . I am planning on going out via the Stelvio Pass, three days to arrive at the Lakes, then three days or so back, calling in to Maranello (maybe Lamborghini also), I have a hope to get the cars on to the roof of the Fiat building also, something I am working on. Other than that, I haven't started on the route or hotels yet, although Geoff Farthing is out there now looking at some for me.

Why, East meets West ?? Why not go all the way to Greece ?? MGing in Greece was great fun. In the late 60s, early 70s we would take my MGB GT from Belgrade to either Saloniki for a weekend or Cape Sounion, SE of Athens for a longer visit with a Mandatory Fish dinner in Piraeus and a Ferry trip out to the Islands. There are too many stories about those trips. Adrian, I am back in UK after a 650 mile run from Basel on Monday. MGCC Switzerland did us proud with 8 Nights at Hotel Latimar in Welsnhofen, 18 Miles SE Bolzano. 5 Days were spent driving the Bikers Treff of 230 to 275 Kms each day of near continuous hairpins in the Dolomites and Sud-Tyrol with planned sightseeing, coffee and lunch stops. Together with a free day and a mountain hike it was a good time with wonderful MG Friends. Your 2007 thoughts need talking about when the group is put together and how long you go for without making it another endurance run. An idea to play with. Calais to Gstaad, A long run but easy if you miss the rush hour in Strasbourg. A day off for a local drive. 3rd. Lucerne, Zurich, Chur to St Moritz. 4th Stelvio and onto Dolomites (Welschnofen ?) 5th Local Bikers Treff. 6th South to Maranello, 7th Head north thru Brenner to Innsbruch and Garmisch. 8th Munich, Frankfurt and Home. A side meeting is needed at the Christmas Natter. Geoff F.

Geoff - a nice tour BUT some of those days will be real 'killers' Calais to Gstaad is going on 600 miles and Garmisch to Calais is running toward 700. I regularly do Munich to London - in either the *F* or the Sorento and I always split that run into a minimum of 2 days and even prefer to take a scenic route over 3 days.
The *F* and *TF* are great cars but much nicer if you drive the scenic routes rather than motorways and for me a trip such as you have outlined above would be great over 2 weeks but 8 days I would find far too much of a rush!

Geoff, great ideas, we will discuss this at the Xmas natter, but as Ted says it becomes an endurance trial, I am looking at 250 miles per day, casual touring to enable stops and sightseeing.
Now Angouleme is over I can start looking at next year, first of all the European event in Heidelburg in May, then Kempenrit and then Italy, but I shall work on all three until they are finalised and costed.
