Hi Everyone,
After attending Kempenrit in August, Mrs K and myself are looking to do a bit of a euro tour, heading initially north from Belgium into Holland, and then in to Germany - possibly heading across to Berlin (I understand there is a show there) and then looping back in a south-westerly direction heading back towards Dunkirk for the 2 September.
Could anyone help out but suggesting some reasonably priced Hotels, motels etc in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, France - along with interesting places to visit. The route is still being worked out so is fluid - cheap hotels may well dictate where we visit!!
Thanks
Dave

Dave, your scope is too wide, like any hotel or tourist attraction anywhere in Europe from Holland to Switzerland !! I use Microsoft Autoroute, having recently updated to 2006 for the Scandanavian Tour. It enables you to plan a route and show attractions including tourist, hotels, restaurants etc. together with tel.nos. For an additional £45 it comes with GPS for location and route directions on a Laptop, albeit my laptop is so slow and old, the directions are 15 miles behind. With a route, I select a town stop and search Altavista on Town-hotels. I avoid agency bookings and try to E-mail direct to the hotel asking for availablity and best price. Half the fun is a few hours on the computer putting together what suits you personally. Enjoy it. Geoff F.

A group of 5 or 6 cars are going on from the Kempenrit to the bash in Berlin the following weekend via stops in Marburg (for a kip) and Dresden for 2 days of culture before going onto Berlin for 3 days . Dresden is magnificent and the "Berlin Treffen" is huge fun with the possiblity of a Police escorted convoy through the centre of the City via most of the famous lanmarks. Ted Newman is organising this and has huge experience of organising trips in Germany going back to sheparding herds of American tourists in the 1950s. His web site seems to be down and I don’t think it is right o publish his email address here. However the very next thread is from him about this extension! fregister.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=europe&action=display&thread=1139583541The Berlin Treffen has restrictions on numbers and I am also aware that the main hotel in Berlin for the bash was filling up fast a few weeks ago. Apparently there is some football bash going on in Germany right now and this is causing lots of organisations to shift planned events to the late Summer. Must be worth a try – it will certainly be a great way to see Germany for the first time! Cheers Patrick
