This annual event, now into it's sixth year has gone from strength to strength. Located at Lier it is the annual event of the MGCC Antwerp, you may have seen pictures of this lovely event, but if you have not details of last years event is here ; www.mgtf.be/ follow the link to Kempenrit 2005. Dave's site here : swmgf.org.uk/38.html also has a good selection of pictures from last years event showing some of the 121 F/TF's that attended. The same format will follow with the start point at Averbode, in the forest where the cars are all lined up by colour, you will follow a given route to the finish. You will see cars from many European countries, mostly F/TF's. We will depart the UK on Saturday morning via, either the Eurotunnel train or Norfolk Line ferry to Dunkerque, then a relatively easy and short drive to Mechelen where we will stay the night. Saturday night entertainment in Mechelen is so much fun, well it was last year, we soon found the joys of Gouden Carolus Hotel accomodation is being arranged at this moment and, like all events, it will really help with planning and cost reduction if we can have names as soon as possible. This is the event to go to if you have never driven abroad before, we will ensure you are tucked in nicely, it is an easy journey. If you think the F/TF scene finishes at the Channel think again, you will see that the F/TF scene in Europe is very vibrant indeed with many cars and mods you will not have seen before. The people have a great sense of humour and welcome everybody. Immediately after we leave for the train/ferry back home, arriving back late on Sunday. As usual, any questions, please just ask, if I can't answer Bruno and Erik are always close by to help. Last year we took 10 british cars this year we are aiming for 20, so give it some thought this is the one event if you have not been abroad in your F/TF before. List : Adrian & Dawn Jerry & Diane (swmgf) Tim & Liz

The cost of the Eurotunnel train is quite expensive at the moment £123.00 return so I propose, unless you don't like ferries, we take Norfolk Line from Dover to Dunkerque, slightly closer to Belgium than Calais anyway. The crossing time is 2 hours, therefore 10.00 ferry arrives at 13.00 local time and the 21.30 return arrives at 22.30 local time.
The cost is £44.00 return and ferries depart at 10.00, 12.30 and 14.45, returning at 19.30, 21.30 and 23.30 (don't forget local time is + 1 hour).
I favour the 10.00 out with the 21.30 return, is this OK ?
The hotel, which is brand new, due for completion in June, belongs to a friend of Bruno's and is expected to be decorated with our club flags, so I understand, the price, not set yet is, I am informed, to be reasonable, similar to an Ibis (therefore 3 star).
The event costs 10 Euro's to enter and as soon as applications are open we will be informed to ensure we get booked early. For pictures of last years event and the MGCC Antwerp site, follow photo albums 2005 here :http://www.mgcca.be/
Any questions ?
So far confirmed :

Update on the trip : I have the hotel details, which I will post later, I am awaiting clarification on one point, but the owner of the hotel promises us an unforgettable stay with an MG related welcome and a little MG surprise ? I suggest we book the ferries ourselves, otherwise I will have to pay for them all (phew) the link is here ; travel.norfolkline.com/Default.aspOn-line booking is easy, we are on the 10.00 outbound on the 19th August and the 21.30 return on the 20th August. When asked about "special needs" put very low ground clearance. Cost is £44.00p return. Please let me know when you have booked in case the ferry fills up, don't forget it is a summer weekend, so it is likely.

It'll be the super-cheap economy room for me (and Claire). - Counting the pennies, I need money for some mods this year, not just holidays. unless you don't like ferries I don't remember ever being on a ferry, so I don't know whether I 'like' them or not Still there's a first time for everything, I just hope the sea's calm.

The Dutch will show up as well!! At the most important continental MG(T)F meeting. Looking forward meeting you all at our Belgian Friends party. Looking forward to a pre-party with you all. We don't want to compete with you British for hotel rooms, but we would like to stay at the same place or somewhere near.
Last years arrival on Sunday was not to bad but: it felt like we missed a lot of fun!

Kasper, You must have seen the photo's from the Brewery Tour then.
Still don't know how we found our way back to the hotel, oh ! I remember Daphne grabbed a local lad and he showed us the way, you did miss a fun evening.
To stay at the Hotel Ve drop Bruno a line and put your names and request down, I already have a list of names given to him for us, if anybody else is thinking about this weekend, tell me quickly so I can arrange your hotel, you have the details and prices, there are not many rooms.
