Daphne has just informed me that the Octarun event ( May 27th - May 28th ) starts registration in January and, although with 500 MG cars, it fills up usually within one month. So if anybody wants to attend this great event, put your names down now and we will put them forward for you when the time comes.
When numbers become clear, accomodation and further details can be arranged.

.......... that the Octarun event ( May 27th - May 28th ) starts registration in January and, although with 500 MG cars, it fills up usually within one month. This is why Rosi and me got it done only once back in 1999 for one day. I recall we had been 5 German MGF and a very few Dutch MGF only. Lots of second hand MGF/TF have been exported to NL in the meantime. So there will be a much more now.

It has been suggested to me that the Sweden trip be chosen as an International MGF Register event, there certainly seems to be enough support for it. Is anybody interested, I have three cars already with interest from Germany also.
If the drive there and back is too much, cars can be ferried to / from Gothenburg or locations in Denmark.
What is the view on an annual International MGF Register event ?

@ Dieter,
As we bought our MGF back in 2000 (as a former German car) we were one of the few driving an F in the 2001 octagon tour. nowadays is it very much different with lots of people driving an F as an addition to their MG cars.
Due to aggressive racing the organisation will certainly not allow people to finish the octagon tour in just one day. (mind you'll have to overhaul 250 cars in one day on single track roads.)

@ Kasper, can't believe that people try this ride in one day. In 99 it was from memory about 500 km !! Over all these damn speed pumps ? .. Dohh. Ade-Surrey, Had a look to www.mgcc.seThe Event location is Are ? at the E14, mid of Sweden ? in height of Trondheim(N), am I right ? ... would mean 2000 km for _someone_ from Hersfeld. .. one direction...

@ Dieter, The Octagon event is continuesly in development, so longer and shorter stints are always part of the deal. One of the early editions was about 800 km in two days. nowadays it is about 500 km or two days. So it should be able to manage in one day. The organisation is strongly fighting the one-day runners!

... would mean 2000 km for _someone_ from Hersfeld. .. one direction... [/quote] Hi Dieter, this works when you take a ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg?! It´s 500km to Kiel, then 500km on sea and then another 1000km up to Are. But this last 1000km can be done as a sightseeing tour starting in a VERY nice city like Gothenburg?! So more or less the same than going to the south like we did the last years to France or Italy. I am not sure about the prize for the ferry [http://www.stenaline.com/stena_line/stena_line/fahrplan___tarife/scandinavia/de/kiel_-_goteborg.html#preisliste] but I guess it is around 400 Euro per Car incl. 2 people. I would like to go to Scandinavia, not just because of the meeting in Are. I think it could be a nice roundtrip through Norway and Sweden. I never went up north, so I would take some time for this; probably two weeks. André Nettetal/Germany

Andre, by coincidence ... Did some ideas to Autoroute already . ;D Just to talk about. I can easy host your suggestions on site if you export your ideas from Autoroute. www.mgfcar.de/event/Scandinavia/The .axe File link is on the bottom. Main ideas included. - quick ride to the event, using the Kiel-Oslo Ferry one way (296.00 EUR with Accommodation: 2 of Reclining seats) - Including the famous Geirangerfjord in NO. This is a must if you are already there !! - some travelling through south Norway *costwise* including Bergen. (some short ferries to be included) - get back through Denmark for *the maybe* additional stops. (Kristiansand-Hirtshals 210.00 EUR) Did a similar ride but in the other direction in 1970 . I told you, with the old Ford up to the north cape. Regarding ferries, it's most important to check sailing plans. However, I think it's easier to starting a new thread with header *Sweden Event 2005* for further discussions ? PS. big advantage for the UK visitors Newcastle-Gothenburg and back is 270 GBP only (economy cheapest accomodation included)

Dieter,
Does this mean you are no longer considering the tour to Sweden ?
