Steve - as posted Kevin - as posted Rob and Karen - as posted Simon and Julie I am not sure where this is going at the moment.....I made the original suggestion, and venues and there have been several alternatives since then, but i am not clear what the current thinking is? However, I am happy to go along with the majority

Just to clarify things as they stand at the moment - the intention is to go for our xmas night out in either Manchester city centre or Warrington (depending on public transport network). Although an actual date has not been agreed yet I reckon either a Friday or Saturday night in December.
I'll look up some venues for us in both locations and post a few links I'll also check on the trains while I'm at it.

Just been looking on national rail website to gauge the times of services we need. They don't work that far in advance but on the assumption they will be similar times as now. On checking the various locations of us wanting to go there are no problems for of those going to Manchester. Most are direct serivces. Also for most people it seems the last train home is between 23.10 and 23.45 from various stations i.e Victoria, Oxford Road and Piccadilly. However there does seem to be a problem for anyone going home to the Wirral area as the last train back is shortly after 21.00 So that looks like a possible hiccup for Vonnie and Simon. As I don't know the specific location where you live maybe you could check this out.

rail timetables used to change in september when I was a regular commuter, they run a winter and summer timetable that is usually slightly but not significantly different
