;D Hi anyone. I'm a brnad new owner of a V plate VVC with K&N 75i and 52mm TB, and love it already. I have one question though, I get a strong smell of petrol in the car in the morning after it being shut up all night, it goes almost immediately I start up, but could do with some info on solving it, i read it could be the breather or the tank ?? any info is appreciated. Thanks, Phil.

Phil, Yes indeed it could be, however it would help if you showed us where you were so we can point you in the direction of possible help.
Pop into Rob's site, that should be as much help as you need if you are willing to do it yourself link here :http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/

I get this sometimes too in the morning and have done for five years ! - It's not leaking anywhere so I've always assumed it's a breather pipe breathing. It's not an uncommon thing to find in F's - always best to check there is no leak anywhere though before putting it down to the breather pipe just in case.

Another one here. Although I only seem to get it when I'm parked on a slope, whenever it's parked on flat land (most of the time) I never get the smell. No leaks as far as I can tell, and there's never been a problem with fuel consumption so I've never had anything done about it.

Great stuff, thanks to all who replied. I am in Marlborough, Wiltshire, so not quite sure which area i sit in ?? The car is parked on a slope with the front facing down each night, and during the day also, although to a lesser extent. I'll try parking it the other way around to see if that stops it. thanks again for the friendly info, any more gratefully accepted. cheers. Phil

Phil, sounds interesting, could the be some connection between slopey parking and the petrol smell? Like I said whenever I'm parked on flat my car's not affected. If you park on a flat area take note as to whether the smell is absent. As a Wiltshire dweller you fall into the South West Centre of the MG Car Club. Link here: www.mgcars.org.uk/mgccsw/Also Kris Ford (krisxf) has just started up his F/TF group for Hants and Wiltshire, I think he's got a thread started on this board somewhere.
