Hi All, Just wondering if anyone else would like to join the Southmids Sportsters on our stand at this event. We're representing the MGF Register and have been given an unlimited sized area so we would like to make it a great display. You could even bring your regional banners too! There's a tread in our regional bit of the forum here along with links to details of the event, venue, etc. It's also a suggestion that this could be a suitable venue for MGFest so it's worth checking out. Rich.

It's also a suggestion that this could be a suitable venue for MGFest so it's worth checking out, Rich. 'Sorry' but that looks like the same (kind'off) place as the last one. Been to a few doo's at Lincolnshire Show-ground www.lincolnshireshowground.co.uk/and they have always worked out well 'if that' any help?' Also Thetford Rugby Club www.thetfordrugbyclub.com/(ground/site) is in a very nice location (middle of woods) and do these sort of events, has a bar, showers but w/c are a bit limited (might have to get some porta-loos in) but the folks that run it are very nice/obliging. 'Sorry' I don't want to tread on anyones toes though

jr,
Just wish to point out a couple of things. Although Wicksteed Park is a theme park, it is in a different league to Billing Aquadrome. Firstly, it is far more up to date and secondly, it's a much cleaner and more professionally run venue.
I only mentioned that we would be checking it out as a possible venue as it has been suggested by quite a few people as an ideal place. However, nothing is set in stone at this extremely early stage. Everone's comments have been noted and will be discussed thoroughly when the committee meet in September.
To get this thread back on target...
The Brit-Cars Rally is a one day event which is already expanding with each year it's taken place. There are displays of all the big British motoring names, and we're going to be there representing MGFs and TFs. It is thier event and is run to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation - a very worthy cause. The foundation always bring a couple of their children to come any enjoy the cars, along with the activities available at Wicksteed Park. There are more details on the Brit-Cars forum (link on Southmids Sportsters thread, via first posting).
So, if anyone is interested, please let me know.
Rich.

Rich My wife Karen and I would love to join you all at Brit Cars - It may be the last chance to get out in the sunshine this year (we hope). Its her TF but she lets me drive it on weekends as long as I clean and polish it. Just got a new set of Shaddow Chrome 160 wheels this week so we have to take it out somewhere! Here we are at the south east gathering last week. See you there hopefully Cheers Dave Mulcahy

Well having attened the event yesterday.....a fab turn out of F/TF's and 'temporary members' ;D......Wicksteed Park was a great venue. Colin TF said....."10 times better than Billing"....OK, that's easy, BUT......it was a very nice venue, very clean, well organised and easy to get to. I know the committee is meeting soon for the wash up on MGFest and no doubt early plans for next year.....Wicksteed gets my thumbs up and from everyone else that attended yesterday......great pics in our section ;D ;D ;D

I've later thought that Rickingham could be very good, if combined with a MGsOnTrack trackday on the saturday as part of MG Fest 2008!

Wicksteed was a good venue, especially compared to Billing but the one down side I thought (but this could be overcome) is that there was not much facilities for the camping. Extra loos and showers would need to be added to cope. Not much chance of flooding in it's favour as no where seems flat there or could that be a slight issue for an large arena space?
Colin's suggestions are good too. Linking it with MGoT or at a race event could work unless it clashes with the road runs?
Couple more midlands venues could be Drayton Manor or the show grounds at Malvern (just coped with mega thousands of people for VW rally)

so thats where all the VW's were heading back from! Malvern is also home to the TR Register International event - as well as a stunning setting! Personally, I don't think it matters if road run clashed with trackday, as those wanting to do roadrun would do it, those prebooked on trackday would do trackday. For those that aren't doing either, or just turn up after the roadrun has left, would have something to watch / see - i.e. those partaking in th combined MG Fest / MGsOnTrack trackday. It would also help split the costs between Fest and the Trackday! - thats my line of thought anyway - for what it's worth!!
