The second of the F Register main day runs takes place in Yorkshire where we'll be enjoying a day out in the hills and dales surrounding Castle Howard. Why not take the chance of a long weekend and stay near the start in York or near the finish in the Malton area? There was a lot of interest in this run around Christmas time when it was first mooted and we already have several applications for it so if you don't want to be disappointed make sure you get your application in as soon as possible. The following link takes you to the Event website and the combined day run application form. www.mgcars.org/runnymede-mgoc/mgpitfiles/Gothic%20Endeavour/gothic%20endeavour.htmSure to be a great run - the sun shone on us in Essex and I'm sure it will do so again in Yorkshire.

You may have picked up that somehting was amiss here from the Yorkshire section.
We have had a considerable problem but the EVENT IS STILL ON.
However it may not be so much a Gothic Endeavour anymore !
What we can say at the moment is that it will be based at Castle Howard - incidentally this will be the day after they finish filming the new movie of Brideshead Revisited.
We are putting good old Plan B into operation and should be able to announce some more details next week.
At the moment though it's going to be something of a mystery tour - so if you fancy a step into the unknown get your applications in now - we really want to keep this event in Yorkshire but need you to make it a success .

That's it - mostly sorted out now - the start will be on the outskirts of York at the Clifton Moor retail Park which handily has a Macdonalds for your early morning coffee or burger !
It's not too far from Malton so if you have already booked into a hotel in that area don't worry. There are also plenty of hotels in the York area if you havn't booked yet.
Tickets are being sent out now to all those who have already booked.
The run takes us from York out across the Howardian and Hambledon Hills past the tromantic ruins of Rievaulf Abbey and through market towns such as Helmsley. We'll then head back down to Castle Howard where you'll have a chance to look around the house and gardens at a discounted rate in the afternoon.
So it will be the same as one of our normal main runs but just not quite as advertised for which we apologise - if anyone who has pre booked wants to pull out because of that then let me know but the alternative should be good and will give you a chance to actually look around Castle Howard as well.
There were a lot of names on the original thread interested in heading to Yorkshire - some have already applied and some have not so if you were hesitating then hesitate no more as the event is ON.
We didn't want to cancel this event as we really want to spread out further north than we usually do and provide a good day out for you F/TFers north of the Midlands.
A big thanks to the Yorkshire MGCC who have helped us out with this event now.
So... a weekend in Yorkshire - what are you waiting for - hopefully the sun will be out by the 8th July !

We do have some entrants for this so why not join them - paddles and gum boots are optional - still time to apply - just about !
I'm sure there must be some more effers in the north who might like to meet up for a day run ?

This is as local as it gets for us, so B&B booked near York, even though we could drive to this on the day no problem, so who is going to risk heading north of Birmingham then?

I unfortunately can't do this one as it's the only weekend I can fit in to get my car serviced for the big one.

The weather shone and the rain fell. Driving around Yorkshire and having seen the devastation on the news you have to feel some sympathy to those affected by the horrendous weather. We departed in fine weather taking in Easingwold for a short stop, then on to Byland Abbey, or what was left of it. The remains of the amazing Rievaulx Abbey was next then Helmsley for lunch. While there the heavens opened saturating the dozens of bikers gathered there for a lunch stop also. We then followed more beautiful minor roads including the B1257 where we got a quick reality check, we were in flooded Yorkshire......... Surprisingly, maybe, all cars made it through here, much to the disappointment of the 4x4 crew waiting just around the corner to tow the less fortunate out. From then on, the rain couldn't make it's mind up what to do but we all made it with no problems at all, well done to all of the owners that made this trip one that will not be forgotten for a while. After the stop at Castle Howard we decided to push on to the N. Yorks moors to visit Goathland (the home of Aidensfield in the TV series Heartbeat) it also has the train station that is used as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. A few more pics on my website, click on link below then go to the Fred on tour page. The pics are, I'm afraid, rather Fred biased ;D!! I would like to add my thanks to Tim (& Liz) along with David Copeman for rescuing this event and making it a wonderful day, even with our hangovers (see Adrian's pics above) Andy and I had a great time! All the best. Soo, Andy & Freddie www.mgfsoo.com
