Neil, As an idea Speed Ferries across, then trian down, return via the Alps to the ferry.
Visit Milau next year on the run to Auvergne, for the European event of the Year.
Cuts your mileage by half, allows you to use the F, saves some fuel and I don't have to look at the (nice) rear of a Scooby for a week. ;D
How about that ?

Neil, How about this :
Speed Ferries Dover - Boulogne 14.45 - 16.35 Speed Ferries Boulogne - Dover 21.00 - 20.50
£50.00 return, available 15th or 16th September but not returning on the 20th, no availability.
Train Calais - Avignon dep. 18.05 arr 05.50 2 berth sleeper £300.00 or
Train Calais - Nice dep 18.05 arrive 09.58 2 berth sleeper £365.00
The drive from Avignon to Monaco is gorgeous, one night in a B&B or hotel will not be a problem, saving £65.00 on the train. Alternatively straight to Nice arriving Saturday morning, short drive to Monaco.
Return over three/ four days in the Alps, Switzerland and Germany. There is no evening return service from Boulogne to Dover on the 20th, so it wouls have to be middle of the day or the 21st, I fancy the 21st as we are leaving a day later, what do you think ?
That should keep your mileage below 1000 and you can take the F ;D

Nice idea but still not taking the F. As Friday night will be another 300, MGF10 another 100, + Monaco will equal limit exceeded Drove Avignon, Nice, Monaco last year..... Do not underestimate how long it will take to get through the Alps, also did that last year.... Done the maths, the Scooby fuel bill going direct down the motorway will be about £130 (if I'm a good boy) + 80euros in tolls + at least one hotel.

Neil, You're right I have done it and the Pyrenees, will still be so much fun, and therefore worth it, in the F. Just ordered a new blue flame exhaust and de cat pipe for it, whoopee ;D

Getting further back home now - booked a hotel at Larch - so could do a circle over the Col de Turini for fun and then back up into Italy towards Barcelonette for the relais d'Italie at Larche. After that we're off to Annecy via the Col de vars and the Frejus tunnel.

Well we're all back safe and sound now - great natter at the Cafe de Paris on saturday night watching the rollers, bentleys, porsches and ferraris cruise by.
We had afew last minute pull outs so ended up with just four Fs on the prom at Monte Carlo - big thanks to those that made it - hopefully I'll be getting some pics on line in the next few days - I managed a total of 2365 miles which wasn't too bad. Roger & Sue won the longest journey to Monaco prize covering over 1400 miles whilst John & Lyn managed a paltry 805 miles winning them the shortest journey trophy. Mike & Jan collected most sugar sachets winning them the challenge trophy - I was the only one sad enough to seek out a snow dome - brilliant one with a donkey wearing pyjamas from the Ile De Re.
Topless all the way to Monaco and most of the way back - apart from a cold snap in the clouds on top of the Alps !

Excellent work Tim! All I can do is apologise profusely for being one of the drop-outs, despite suggesting the idea in the first place! Alas I still haven't had written confirmation from Taylor Woodrow that they and not me will pay for repairing the car. Next year.....
