MG TF 2003 My passenger side window has stopped working this afternoon(3 month's after first playing up), I can hear the motor working but it's not moving the glass up or down. Any idea how much a Window regulator/Motor is? Any one got any part No's?

It is possible that the glass has fallen off the regulator arm (if this is the case, then I'd be looking as to why that has happened - but that's another question) The first thing I'd do before spending money is to remove the door card (easy enough, fortunately, see hereThen operate the window and see what's happening. If the regulator is not moving, it could be that the thing is mangled, and replacement is the only option. Or if the arm is moving up and down, and the glass is not moving, the problem is elsewhere... Keep us posted! ;D

Thanks for the info Rob. The 'link' will be useful. I'll have a look tomorrow(Saturday) and let you know how I get on. Thanks again, Gaz.

Removed the Motor/Regulator assembly and the fault was the plastic gear(completely stripped) and a terrible mess in the gear housing, a gunge of particles of plastic, grease and water. I phoned my local MG Rover Dealer and they have just said the Motor/Regulator assembly is £248.00 I think this is little excessive!

I'd get myself down to the nearest car breakers pretty quick.
If you haven't got one or there are no F/TF's in there give Glenn Sprigg (MG Mania) a call, he's good for used parts 01922 410949 or Victoria at the MGF Centre 01902 403045, a bit further away, I don't know about used parts though, is Mike Satur 01709 890555.
That is a ridiculous price but, however typical of local MG Rover dealerships.

OMG! That's horrific. Brown gunk looks like ferrous oxide. Water been getting into the mechanism, leading to partial seizure of the central spindle and consequent failure of the nylon cog? Adrian's right - a scrappy ought to source you a suitable replacement; the individual parts aren't going to be available over the shelf unfortunately.

Got a second hand(2004) Motor/Regulator off eBay. Cost £48. The way they seem to be failing I might get 12 month's service out of it. Driver's side window has started to rattle over bumps now(I will post a seperate question)
