I did a Rolling Road Dyno run on Saturday alongside some of the other members of the MG DRC.
Results:
139.4 bhp and 152 ft/lbs torque, off the gas, at the wheels.
193.6 bhp and 223.5 ft/lbs torque, on the gas, at the wheels.
About what I expected.
In other words an increase of 54.2 bhp and 71.5 ft/lbs torque at the wheels on a 50 shot of Nos. ;D
I love[/i] WON kit! It does exactly[/i] what it says on the box!
Bearing in mind that 'equivalent at the flywheel' figures are 'guestimates' at best, this gives a rough equivalent of 185 bhp at the flywheel off the gas and about 240 bhp at the flywheel on the gas.
The car tried his best to jump the rollers on the gas so we had to have people lying over the back to keep him down!
What was interesting was the torque spread off the gas was essentially totally flat from 3200 rpm up to 6500 rpm with a slight tail off thereafter - so the exhaust manifold and Daytona are working just as I wanted.
On gas the torque curve really showed up the fact that the motor is a VVC. It rose sharply to about 3300 rpm then stayed flat to 4000 rpm where it climbed (at the same rate) to a max at 5200 rpm before tailing off to 5800 rpm then staying fairly flat to 7000 rpm.

An interesting and frustrating weekend that came good in the end. Saturday it was foggy until around midday so the first runs down the strip weren't till about 13:30. My first run was after 15:00 owing to the number of track closures due to blow ups and people dropping fluids on the strip. I totally porked the first run - I was halfway down the strip before I realised I hadn't armed the Nos (DOH!). Managed a 14.8 though. Next run was around 17:00 when I got a 14.5. The last 3 runs I was playing around with the progressive controller start power and ramping time - the result was three 14.3 passes. VERY frustrating! On Sunday we went to sign on at 10:20 only to be told too many people had signed on and to come back at 13:30. I finally got signed on at 14:10. In the next 4 hours I only managed 2 runs owing to the number of breakdowns on the track coupled with ABYSSMAL organisation on the part of the Santa Pod staff. I'd reset the progressive controller, based on what I'd learned on the Saturday, to a start power of 50% ramping over 2 seconds. The first run was rubbish - 14.8 - so I went into my last run of the day with a little trepidation. The run was shortly after Caterham had dropped fluids on the start line. As a result, traction was not good off the line (Perry said he could see my wheels spinning into 2nd gear on the slicks. THEN the tyres hooked up and we were away. At the finish I was almost needing 5th gear. Result? A 14.104 second pass with a Terminal of 99.66 mph Oooh YEAH baby! I really think that given the right conditions a sub 14 second pass is on the cards. What did show up on the slicks was the fact that the car REALLY needs an LSD - when the power came in it was trying to snake. So... Next (and last) event of the year for me will be on Sunday Nov 5th.

Cheers for the write up Debs. It looks as if you will soon break the 14 sec barrier ;D Shame I didn't get a good picture of you on your second run...I think that you were just too fast for the camera - LOL Wish that I could have stayed for longer. Did Perry get the V8 up and running for a few more attempts? Oh and how did his car look in the evening.....did he use the lights in the end? Jon

The event I competed in on the weekend had a 1st gear hairpin, I soon learnt that my TF needs an LSD to, huge lose of power span out of the inside rear wheel.
Sounds like your having fun now.

Well I have found a Quaif LSD for my F but the find is days after having the car apart to fit a new clutch. It might be a while before it goes in , have to save some more dollars!! or the lack of grip might just get the better of me.

The next, and final, 'Pod' of the year is on Sunday 5th November. I will be trying for a sub 14 second pass and a terminal in excess of 100 mph. I have done some more research and I will, therefore, be running a 75 shot of Nos.

Houston we have a problem... I fitted the jets for a 75bhp shot. Everything ran well up to the red line in the first 3 gears, but in 4th I started getting a misfire at around 6000rpm. It is likely that this is the onset of detonation. Going richer on the fuel jet as well as a hefty slug of octane booster (into 99RON petrol) didn't help, so it looks like I have reached the limit of what I can use with the standard the ignition advance curve provided by the MEMS. Damn! I could get the MEMS reprogrammed by my local dealer but TBH it's a pain in the rear end. So the MEMS will be coming out to be replaced with a DTA management system. www.dtafast.co.uk/index.shtmlThis will allow me to either run 1 of 2 maps at the flick of a switch, or, more importantly it can be tied in to (the new WON Max Extreme) Progressive Controller to retard the ignition when the Nitrous is activated. In the meantime it's back to the 50 shot jets for tomorrow.

I'll write up today's Pod shortly. In the meantime here is a video clip of my TF doing a 14.5 on Saturday 14 Oct. videos.streetfire.net/video/877f589e-900a-4b0c-b154-986c00e53d55.htmBear in mind I wasn't going for 'Reaction Time' but a good 'Launch' (I sat there for nearly 2 seconds before launching). Although the Caterham crosses the line first, my ET was better by some .7 of a second and I was over 10 mph faster Terminal Speed . (Guess Caterhams aren't that quick!)

Well it was an interesting day. Very cold with a bit of a headwind and the traction was extremely poor. I even aborted one run because I thought I had clutch slip (when it was just zero traction). I managed 3x 14.1 second passes, threw away the fourth attempt and on the fifth attempt set a personal best: 14.001 secs @ 101.08 mph, so I managed at least one of my targets. Not only that but on the best run I staged alongside a Nissan Skyline. I was thinking to myself, "He's going to cream me." Tee Hee he was over second and a half behind me! Apparently his friends in the stands were gutted - especially[/i] when my friend Jason told them it was girl driving the TF. ;D A stripped out blown Ford rally car got a bit of a shock too. By run 6 the traction was appalling and I couldn't better a 14.3. On run 7 the traction was so poor I got bad snaking as the power came in in 3rd gear. So bad I had to momentarily lift off resulting in a 14.4. Overall it was disapointing not to break into the 13's but a PB as well as a supra 100mph Terminal is a nice way to end the year's racing.
