From what I've been reading Joe they are well worth it especially for the older models, as their original air boxes are rubbish. So the K&n's which are very good replace a very bad setup. I'm picking mine up from moss's on thursday, I've also ordered the larger throttle,I think it's a two week wait for it. But the K&n will be on by the weekend I'll tell you how it goes.

They make an impressive increase on an F and the intake sound is great. It is not necessary on the TF where the intake system is updated.

But don't forget to inform your insurance company - some consider it a performance upgrade others don't - whatever it is better than having an accident and the assessor discovering it and the insurers declaring your insurance null and void.

The way to get the most out of a K&N air filter is to enclose it suitably (Rover 820 airboxes are favourites, so that air can circulate round the filter) and duct the air from a cold air source, such as the side vent. That gives a similar setup to aftermarket air filter systems such as ITG, etc. Although the intake roar is reduced, the effectiveness is better as you're not sucking in hot engine bay air. This would apply to a TF as well as an F. Any reason why a K&N specifically? Excuse the untidiness. This was done four years ago and needs a good clean up! ;D Rich.

A big YES, on my 98 VVC. They also keep the dirt and dust out as well as giving good sound and power.

K & N by far the cheapest and best value for money. I have since fitted a Cold air Induction Kit - Taipan. The best valuefor money type is such as Rich's. The best everyone says is the ITG, thats at the top end. Try the K & N you won't be disapointed.

Forgot to say that the K&N inside that box is actually for a LR Freelander! Although the engine is the same 'K' series (although obviously the Freebie wasn't VVC), the filter is nearly an inch longer. Don't really think it makes a difference, but as I had it from my previous vehicle, I thought I may as well use it!
Rich.

I have the ITG induction kit & i have to say it is the best by a long way but as with all things you get what you pay for hence it is expensive
Before i managed to scrape the Penny's together for the ITG i ran a K&N and found it very good there was defiantly a small improvement in performance so in the good value area K&N score all round.
Beware though the slippery slope of induction improvements once you start before you know it you will have hit the plastic & an ITG will be on its way to you in that constant quest for power & sound there is no escape ;D ;D ;D

I live just around the corner from the K&N factory. I might just pop in to say hello!
Are they really easy to fit yourself?
