Can anyboby tell me which warning light comes on for low coolant and is there also a warning buzzer on a standard 2004 TF115. Handbook is not particularly informative. Header tank does have a sensor and wiring fitted near base of tank.

Not sure about which light it is but so 04 TF's have the sender in the tank and some have the warning light but not all have both! I don't think that there is a buzzer on the OEM system.

Mine doesn't buzz. If you have the light its a red one on the right hand side. I "think" its the one below the handbrake warning light on my 04 TF. It illuminates briefly when the ignition is first turned on so you should be able to spot it.

MY 54 TF135 has the warning light, but no sender in the coolant tank and no associated wiring.

As Chis says, not all the 2004 cars were fully fitted out.
You can check whether the sensor is fittted by looking at the bottom of the expansion tank - if fitted there will be a 2 wire harness connected. Also, there will be a float inside the tank.
Then turn the ignition on but do not start the vehicle. If the warning system is functional, as Ian says, there will be a red illuminated symbol on the right side dash warning light cluster. The symbol looks like a radiator with a fan superimposed IIRC.
There was never a warning buzzer, just the light AFAIK.

Speaking of warning buzzers...
The other day when my alternator belt fell off and I was running on just battery power for those miles, towards the end when things started to fail I heard a sound like a warning buzzer coming from behind me, any idea what that would likely have been?

Thanks for replies. Unfortunately with ignition on, the only warning lights showing in the RH cluster are handbrake and rear fog lamp. I tried pressing down the float in the header tank with the engine running but nothing lit up. Guess I'll have to check the wiring diagram and try tracing the fault that way. How easy is it to get to the back of the instrument panel to reach the bulbs?

Suggest you purchase the NEW MGTF Workshop manual - it has all the wiring diagrams for the TF AND also all the electical plugs listed. Most MG shops would now have this manual. Cheers.

No. MG only started introducing parts of the system mid 2004. I dont beleive the the complete working system was introduced until late 2004.
This is why some 2004 cars just have the tank with the sensor, some just have the warning light in the dash, and some have both but no wiring connecting them.
