Agreed erikb - thats why (apart from price) i didnt go for a sportster hood... I have all the benefits of the plastic hood now - apart from i get clear vision and when i connect it up a heated element!

Fantastic work Adam - may I link your instructions from here: mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DIY/exterior/hood/rear_screen/index.htm ? Thanks! PS Looking at the BAS stand at Silverstone, they too are now offering a hood with a zip-out rear window. Looks like a standard hood too - so here may be another source of rear windows... which ever works out the cheapest I guess?

As far as I know the one BAS offer is the standard MY05 one fitted to said cars. Nice to know there's a choice of complete hoods on offer as well as this DIY option as well!

If BAS are offfering the MY05 hood they must be able to supply the rear section i guess for DIY, which should work out much cheaper. The only thing i notice about their 'MY05' hood is that the glass seems much 'squarer' than the MGR one? Or am I imagining it? Anyways, means as James says we have several options - but me being me would always do the DIY as it saves a fortune! Hehe Oh by the way - my idea of an MGF trailer is now dead in the water - my insurers underwriters declined to cover it. Oh well on to the next idea! Oh, and Rob, no probs at all about linking it. The more people who know the more can do it before the original supply of MGR glass backs runs out at xPart centres!

BAS make the "OEM" MY05 hood anyway and are making them for NAC

Why on earth do they use that hideous 'squared' window in the sportster instead of the MGR curved one i wonder?

The two glass hood designs that BAS retail are NOT the same as the MG Rover item. I am not even that sure that BAS supplied OEM glass-screen hoods to MG Rover, although they were the supplier for all previous designs of hood. The new zip-in glass screen is quite different - rectangular rather than curved - and perhaps the MG Rover design is protected IPR? Perhaps we should drop BAS a line to clarify? Adam, thanks for the permission to link

Hi to you all - I'm from 'DOWNUNDER" in Perth WA. I am also very interested in this rear glass screen conscept as I have to replace my plastic one in my 2004 MGTF 160 Coupe LE. Who are BAS as mentioned in this thread? I've tried to get one from Premier Automotive Parts in Essex but they won't mail to Australia. Can any one please help me? Cheers Peter.

didn't BAS provide the XPower Sportser hoods to MG? as fitted to mine - however not many actually dad XPower on the actual hoods, as the process meant that that several got scrapped for each good one - or so BAS told me at Silverstone back in 2005
