The date of the next meet is drawing ever closer. I know a some of you wanted to try an alternative venue. Any suggestions?

I am easy where we meet up but if this weather holds up, we are soon going to need an out door venue to bask in the evening sunlight, with a cool drink in one hand and then we can admire the setting sun on the cars and the changing colour of your car. ;D

Never tried the Two Boats, Long Itchington but it has always looked inviting when I pass.
I would enjoy that Southam Road too for a good blast either before or after a meet. Not that far out of the way either and easy to find too. It could be a good venue by the canal on warmer nights too with those tables along side it. Gets my vote for a trial.

You read my mind Geoff, as i'd considered doing the same Perhaps we should just abandon the monthly meet and have a monthly pub crawl instead, least till we find somewhere we like?

Sounds a good plan. lol. We get both a natter and a car run/s in the same night Might even do the same on Monday if the weather is nice - a drink in each and maybe a pub meal too. OK, may be only a meal in one. Will watch this space or we could just have a 'magical mystery tour and stop' for the natter ;D

Another 3 names to add to the pub crawl list Looked out a 40 mile route tonight to try the others out on Monday - a slight detour might just take in the new three too or might need another day out in the sun for those. lol

Keith, need to finish the service on my car this morning but should still be able to join you. Just let me know were and when the start point/establishment is. I was half way through changing the brake fluid yesterday when at 12:30 I was then 'informed' we were going out for dinner at 1 so couldn't finish it as planed. Just got the front brakes to bleed and the front suspension to grease and I should be ready ;D

Steve - I thought to start over at the Golden Lion, then the White Lion, then down to The Two Boats, catching The Red Lion & Bull inn before returning via the Bull & Butcher. Tims suggestions could be done as an after thought to the list dependent on time.
May be 12:00 ish at the Golden Lion do you? I will text you the same just in case you miss it here.

As I said by text, not going to be able to make it due to Mr McGard and his cr@p quality locking wheel nuts.

Hope your problems Steve resolved themselves. Don't you just love 5 minute jobs. The simplest things always cause the most hassle. Had a good run around the pubs this afternoon. Over dosed with J20 nows though. Caught up with Geoff F starting the route the opposite way around My thought on the pubs ... The Golden Lion, Easenhall - Good venue, car park rough not tarmac. Good out door facilities. Cosy inside. Food looked good. White Lion, Pailton (Run by a Mr Brindley apparently......) - Good venue, large tarmac car park. Good pub food. Out door seating OK but close to road. Two Boats, Long Itchington - small car park - was way busy today. Not sure how busy on Wednesday nights. Not huge inside. Nice outdoor seating by canal. The Bull Inn, Weston under Wetherley - car park OK. Out door seating close to road but OK. Red Lion, Hunningham - large car park. Large venue inside. Good out door seating with good scenic views. Down side - QUIZ night on Wednesdays. Bull & Butcher, Ryton - Large car park - out door seating but not so scenic. My initial thought is the Golden Lion (CV23 0JA) would be a good venue. A cosy one inside but if weather OK well good outside. A nice scenic run to get to it too from Coventry. We could always work our way through the list and/or have a Sunday run to try them all out for a pub crawl. A nice set of roads to get around them all even if we can't drink at them all. If you get stuck without a car for Wednesday, let me know and I can pick you up if needs be.

Cheers for the reviews Keith. I think a run round some of the best ones would be a great idea. Someone at work has suggested another not far up the canal from the 2 boats so would like to try that too. Trouble is, I know were it is but not what its called Are we all happy to try the Golden Lion tomorrow? or is to too short notice? PS. I have had my nut removed (oh er) but now need to get a new stud fitted as it stripped the splines of the old one. Have driven the car to an from work today with only 3 nuts on and it feels OK (in fact quite odly, it feels better then normal ) so should be OK to make the natter.
