Once again I (or rather we Karin and I) are putting together a trip for this year - we intend to:-
A/- Join the Benelux *F/TF*ers at the Kempenrit.
B/- Join the Berlin bi-annual Treffen for all MGs.
The great thing is the dates are perfect and our proposed itinerary is:-
Saturday 19 August Leave the UK for Mechelen in northern Belgium.
Sunday 20 August join the 100 plus other *F*s and *TF*s for the days activities which include a meet-up in a fantastic setting, a 'tulip' rally and an evening get together with dinner.
Monday 21 August drive to the Hesse region of Germany for a nights stop in Marburg one of the regions wonderful ancient towns.
Tuesday 22 August drive to Dresden for a 2night stop.
Wednesday 23 August in Dresden - this fabulous city is now a World Heritage site and has been reconstructed to it's former glory after first being virtually destroyed by Allied bombing in WW2 then years of neglect under the communist region until re-unification in 1989/90 - now is the time to see this city before the mass tourism crowds arrive, as they surely will.
Thursday 24 August Afternoon drive to Berlin for check in to the 9th International MG-Meeting in Berlin (see www.mg-club-berlin.de/e_index.html ) and normally there is guided bus and/or boat excursion in Berlin.
Friday 25 August Meet at the AVUS north Curve (Berlin's old 'Brooklands') for the drive through of Berlin escorted by Berliner Police Motorcycle Team ”Weiße Mäuse“ (White Mice) followed by lunch in the city.
Saturday 26 August a full day 'tulip' rally through the countryside around Berlin including lunch. Followed in the evening with a Gala Dinner and presentations.
Sunday 27 August is the Farewell Brunch and a local tour for those that wish to stay on or those that want to start back then leave the hotel late morning for a drive west toward the UK stopping en-route for the night in the Mohnedam region.
Monday 28 August Pick up the German Autobahn for an easy 300 mile drive to the Channel port.
For those that wish to either stay on in the Berlin area there is a lot to see and we shall be only to happy to help.
Also for those only wanting to join for part of the trip - no problem just let us know where you wish to join and where/when you wish to leave.
If you are interested please let us know either here or use the 'hotlink' PM at the side.
Full details with costs etc will be posted later and will also be available on my web site www.tednewman.me.uk/ - at the moment you can only see past years Treffens but I hope to rectify that soon.
