I'm getting a bad feeling about this journey.
The weather may play a factor in this, the M25 on a saturday morning is not good on a good day and we need to be at Runnymede at a set time to get to Abingdon on time. We would also encounter the road works at Heathrow from J12, at least.
What do you think of leaving Dartford, coming through the tunnel to the A13 and then go through the city, no congestion charge at weekends and come out at Hammersmith on to the M4.
I am very familiar with the route, we should get less traffic and, of course, it's less distance anyway, could be a nice journey with the Christmas deco's.
Alternatively we go north around the M25 or take a chance on the southern route but come off early and go up to the A30 / A316 and cut out the SW corner completely.
Have a think and let me know.

Well I like the sound of the city route. However much I love the M25 travelling halfway around it can get a tad boring. Always a bit wary of travelling through London though, it's a bit of a traffic magnet isn't it? As long as you think we're not going to get stuck there. Obviously I don't mind using the M25 if it comes to it, it's up to you. In that case Paul (and Tricky if you're going on the 4th) if you'd want to join us you could meet us at Dartford - it's only about 20 miles from Edenbridge. Tricky, Tunbridge Wells is about the same. Of course all is yet to be confirmed, but it's just a thought.

Oops I think we've drifted off topic somewhat, maybe we should continue this on the appropriate thread, tut tut. Paul, get an avatar sorted, we need to see that car!

The avatar is the photo that many of us have displayed on the left hand side of our posts. You can see my BRG F on the left. At the top bar of this page you'll see some links; home, help, search, members etc. Click on the 'Profile' button, this will bring up your profile. Just below the yellow bar you'll see 'Modify Profile' click this. You can change what people see on your profile; display name, website, signature etc. For the avatar you just need to upload a photo to a hosting site such as Webshots ( www.webshots.com ) or Photobucket ( www.photobucket.com ). Make sure you resize it down to 100 pixels before you upload it otherwise your profile won't be able to accept it. When you've done this bring your photo up on this site and right click and select properties. Copy/paste the URL of the photo into the 'Avatar URL' and add in the height and width in the appropriate boxes (these are also shown on the properties bit as above, for example my avatar size is 100 x 88). Then just change anything else you want in your profile and click the 'Modify Profile' button at the bottom of the page to finish. Simple eh? [it sounds more difficult than it actually is] Alternatively just email me your photo and I'll edit it down to size and upload it, then I'll just give you the URL.

Adrian - the F Reg Natter is on SUNDAY !. Traffic south on M25 is not usually a problem sunday morning - roadworks are finished on the section around the M3 junction which is now at a lovely five lanes and you'll be coming off at junct 13 to experience the fantastic Glanty loop on the A30 ! I'll post some instructions on the SEF website soon. You're more likely to get traffic problems dropping down anticlockwise from the M4 where the roadworks are still in progress. But hey ...whatever - I'll see you at the Pleasure grounds around 10am.

Tim, Thanks for that, of course it is, must be the fact that my regular trips to Abingdon are on Saturdays (or the Alzheimers is kicking in).
Good to see that those road works are drawing to a close.
OK then, looks like we are back to Plan A, usual route around the south.
