Guest posting has been disabled due to the recent spate of childish and snide comments on certain threads.
You can still view all the posts on the board, but in order to add your comments you'll need to be logged in.
It costs you nothing but 30 seconds of your time to register.
If you have any troubles registering or logging in let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Probably a good permanent move James, as the MGE BBS with it's free format and stunning archives is now moribund thanks in no small measure to the unrestricted negative contributions of visiting nerds.

I can't say I agree with this decision. It smacks of 'nanny state' mentality.

Exactly my view, Neil..... I know I may be bashed with a very large ban stick for this post being the South Coast Rep and all that, but this decision truly does make me very angry, Rep or not....

No-one has been prevented from posting their comments still. Members can still make themselves heard.
You're hard pushed these days to find a forum you can even view without registering on first.

I post on a fair few forums that allow guest posting and they are forums which deal with what I consider to be very sensitive topics, not a CAR forum!

Free-speach is dead. The "Fest" Thread has vanished.

You see it on so many forums. The sad truth appear to be that too many are set up by those with excessively large egos and are only truly happy when they are getting lavish praise for there brilliant management and Herculean efforts. If anyone suggests there is scope for improvements, toys can be seen exiting prams whilst the administrators get busy with the delete key!
Running a BBS about the last products of a small and unsuccessful car company that become extinct some years ago is a fairly trivial way of filling your spare time and so my advice to the administrators is to manfully avoid your natural tendency to take yourselves seriously!

Free-speach is dead. The "Fest" Thread has vanished. ?? Moved to sin bin ?? ?? by the MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY ?? and why change thread title to MOVED - why not be honest and say DELETED ?

I have to agree, Britain seems to be losing it's battle with free speech after hard fought gains made with Private Eye and OZ. You are reverting back to the ultra conservative 50's. Let people vent even though their comments might be at the opposite scale from your view.

I can't help thinking that there are two very important points that have been missed here...
Firstly, free speech is about people standing up and making their own thoughts and feelings heard. All the action of stopping 'guests' postings has done has meant people have to 'stand up' first. If you register (and there are no restrictions on who does this), you can post. So where's the problem?
Secondly, the whole idea of a forum, as I've always seen it, is to have a dynamic centre of contact to discuss the subject the forum was set up for. It's not supposed to be a war zone where people get personal and attack each other. Take the MGFest thread. It's supposed to be about MGFest, the progress and the setbacks, etc. It appears that a couple of minor critisisms that were only quotes and not even made by the people that posted them has led to a major and severely detrimental situation that is threatening the very fibre of the forum itself.
I'm all for free speech, but there are places for such and the forum is not a place for it. We're all supposed to be MG enthusiasts on here. That's what brought us here and that's why we all signed up. And at the end of the day, a club is supposed to promote our interests and we must remember it's all supposed to be for fun. Nobody is gaining from any of this. If I wasn't already a member, I have to say that viewing this forum would put me off ever joining the MGF Register. I know this is not the case, but the forum is one of the biggest areas where the public get to hear about what we do. At the moment, they probably think we're a bunch of whingers who aren't enthusiastic or having fun at all.
Can we please get back to what this forum, and the MGF Register as a whole, is supposed to be about... Enthusiasm and Fun!
Rich.

Dave,
Mate, if I were you, I'd let it drop now. We've got to let all these pointless critisisms go over our heads and keep in focus why we're here. I was always told, 'ignore them and they'll go away eventually'...
Rich.
