After Silverstone the MGF register will next be out and about at the MGCC South East Summer gathering at Groombridge Place in kent on Sunday 7th August Entry is £7.50 per adult and there are various events during the day - concours, POO, Driving Tests, Gymkhana, Treasure hunt and three road runs in to the event. Looking forward to this one, I'll have my mum (Lin) in tow this time. BTW is anyone starting at the Kent (Farningham) road run? We'll be on that even though we're not that for from Groombridge.
See you then!

Sorry, won't be at the Summer Gathering, have a big choice of things to do that day, including having tickets for the RedBull AirRace at Longlett. Why does everything happen on the same weekend ??
Take this weekend, its Silverstone and JAE, one car wants to go to Silverstone, the other wants to go to Nene Park....

Hi folks KKE is hoping to do the Farningham run to Groombridge, but isn't sure who'll be available to drive on the day. It might just go solo, Herbie-style! I'm sure it'll make an appearance somehow....

Hi guys, I've got a really juicy article from my local paper about the forthcoming Groombridge event Enjoy! ;D * * * * * * * Rev up for a day of family fun with world's hottest motors! * * * * * * * Around 800 lovingly maintained veteran, vintage and classic cars will be on show at Groombridge Place Gardens, near Tunbridge Wells, on August 7 for the annual Wings and Wheels extravaganza. Luxury sports cars of all marques and ages will be alongside cherished family saloons, from Rolls Royces and Porches to Ford Prefects and Morris Oxfords. There will be a preview of the magnificient vehicles taking part in this years London to Brighton Veteran Run, with some of the rarest cars in the world on show. The MG Car Club with be holding it's summer gathering with more than 300 models on show, from vintage to MGF and Z. They will be holding a variety of events, including Pride of Ownership, a treasure hunt and gymkhana competitions. From a more leisurely age of motoring there will be vintage motorcycles, commercial, farm and military vehicles and stationary engines. There will also be a dazzling aerobatic display by heart-stopping aerobatics in a rarely seen Russian built Sukhot SU26 aircraft with manoeuvers like the S2000 12G Cobra and sustained hovering helicopter style and Bill Giles will demonstrate his incredible flying skill in a Pitts Special biplane with a classic display of loops, flick rolls, staff turns and much more. For children there will be a Victorian funfair with carousel, chair-o-plane ride, games and sweet stalls. There will also be musical entertainment from the Lions Youth Brass Band. Groombridge's 17th century formal gardens will be a mass of summer colour, with the herbaceous borders at their peak, the White Rose Garden perfumed with the scent of more than 20 varieties of rose and the Oriental Garden, with it's rare grass fountain. All the usual attractions of the gardens will be open, including boat rides along the willow-lined canal, birds of prey flying demonstrations and the mystical woodland gardens in the Enchanted Forest.

Having seen how much Air Race tickets are changing hands for, could sell for a tidy profit and go to Groombridge....

Tell the truth Neil, you fancy Tim's summer games.
The money from the tickets will go towards your fuel cost for Monaco (20mpg. ouch), told you not to take the Scooby, the F needs a run.

Adrian, 20 mpg is if I'm not driving it hard.... Below 20 is very easy, all I have to do is up the speed a bit !!!
Think I'm going to stick with Plan A and go to the Air Race, although Summer Games is tempting, what do we play ? As I've a few ideas....

Are your ideas legal and kind to animals ? Did you see what mpg JC and Co. were getting from their cars on the circuit ? ouch ! The Evo I think it was managed 3.6 mpg. Driving that Bentley across the hot desert in Dubai at 180mph probably produced something similar. Heavy

No animals were harmed in the making of my ideas....
Most cars are sub 10 mpg on the track :-( Not sure how bad the EVO really is, I guess if you drive it off boost, mid teens might be possible. However having a car like that and not using boost is a bit pointless!!
