East Anglia MG F Events Strategy

As we are covering Norfolk Suffolk and Cambs there is quite a big area to get around for various pub meets and events in our region. To make sure that we get a fair coverage of the region we thought that it would be a good idea to have some kind of strategy.

Don't worry...that sounds worse than it is ::). The idea is that if we go to different places it makes it more interesting and there is a greater chance of picking up new local MG owners ;D

So our next thought was how do we achieve this strategy? How to chart where we've been and where to go next? Looking at the map below, which is split by district, we thought that, if we aim to visit each one, then eventually we would have visited each part of the EAMGF region. For example we have already been to "The Ship Inn" in East Cambs, and "The Old Ferryboat Inn" in Huntingdonshire, and as you can see from looking at the map there are many more to go!

So where do we go from here? Well that is where you can help. We have made this thread a sticky - which means that it will stay at the top of this forum for the future. We would like you to get involved. So if you know of a good pub / resturant or any good events going on, please add them to this thread. Don't worry about having to do any of the hard work or organising - we can take care of that - but you have all got the local knowledge so let's use it! :)

We don't have to stick rigidly to this but I thought it might be a good idea to get us out and about :)

So let us know what you think - is it a good idea? If you think so get posting!

Cheers ;D

How about the King's Head at Laxfield. Looks nice and has a proper selection of Adnam's ales ("Adnams Oyster" will be coming February so I think that's a good time!), and it's one of only two pubs in the UK that serve beer directly from the cask as well. Food looks good but I've no idea how much it is.

The guys over at the fiat coupe owners club speak pretty highly of it.

Nice one Steve - it looks like a top pub! Thanks for the find.

Mmmmm Adnams ;D - It looks like they only serve the Oyster during February - so that may be a plan in the making. :)

Could even do a run through Thetford Forest on the way ;D

Cheers

We then need to do another meet around September. Nothing to do with the Adnam's Barley Mow being there. No sir. Nothing at all..... :P

Just a thought, I'll check what the prices are like, I don't want us all heading to somewhere that costs £30 a head for pie and beer, I'll never hear the end of it!

I'll report back later....

Cheers Steve,

I was planning on giving them a call tonight, but got sidetracked. Just spent all evening on the dog and bone trying to get the best deal on a £140K loan from various brokers & banks etc.

I wish!!! ;D Would also like to say that I have some serious darkside project for the F going on, but alas it is to with my new house.

The purchases solicitors (of my current house) can't seem to get their finger out, so I am planning for the contingency that I might have two houses for (hopefully) a short period.

Suprising how tricky it is. People are prepared to loan me more than £140k but not for the terms that I am looking for :-/

Who knows maybe if have some cash left over Aston maybe on the cards ;D

Anyone got any spare coppers to add to the fund? LOL

Cheers

I can recommend a good pub over here on the Norfolk/Suffolk border as i used it recently,

The Mermaid
Norwich road
Hedenham
NR35 2LB

01508 482480

Sunday lunch & a sweet £6.00 The food is good plenty of parking and outside space, would be worth a look.

Hi John,

We need to go out Ipswich way soon, maybe the pub Nigel recommended is a goodun - not too far up the road from you?

Nice looking F by the way - I have always been a fan of BRG 8-)

Cheers
