 Replacement rear window
« Thread Started on Sept 2, 2006, 7:37pm »

Dear All,

Just thought I would let you know of the excellent repair that has been carried out on the rear window of PG.

Having seen the article in MGE a couple of months ago, and mindful of the fact that my car has been less than perfect for nearly a year, I contacted AF Smith and Sons in Peterborough to discuss replacing my cracked back window. After a short discussion with Wayne the car was booked in to be done.

Car was delivered to their workshop and less than 3 hours later was ready for collection. New plastic has been stitched into the original panel, the only way of telling is that there is an extra line of stitching across the lower black hood panel.

An excellent job - clear rearward vision again and all for £150, about half the cost of getting a complete panel. Well worth considering this option if your window cracks this winter. Wayne can be contacted on 01733 319595.

He is also able to do complete retrims, complete carpet sets in a range of colours and do replacement hoods.

If anyone wants to affect a temporary repair without using duct tape, PM me and I will let you know how to fit a piece of clear shower curtain using velcro that is windproof and waterproof.

Dave
